Lawrence County. From 0-11 to 10-0.

1-21 if you count the year before.

Somerset 10-0 with a new coach

Lawrence Co from winless in 2008 to undefeated in 2009

Absolutely not. Maybe one of the most noteworthy one-year turnarounds in KY HS football in a long, long time.

Games with common opponents in 08 and 09:

Boyd County: 13-28, 26-16

Greenup County: 0-19, 52-12

Rowan County: 0-46, 29-14

Sheldon Clark: 12-30, 36-30

Just based of those #'s alone it looks like they found an offense. Did they get a new coach or new offensive coordinator?

Morgan Co. snapped state's 2nd longest losing streak at 22 this year. Won 2 games, their first senior night win in 13 years, went from averaging 6-7 points per game to 19.7 and from giving up right at 50ppg to 34.7 and doing so with several Freshman starters.

Was a big improvement compared to the last two years.

1. Lawrence County – as mentioned above

2. Highlands beating Cin St X

3. Somerset going from 5-6 to 10-0

4. Ft Knox winning not only one but two games plus a forfeit

5. Warren Central beating Bowling Green

6. Lone Oak beating Lexington Catholic

7. Ashland beating Ironton, OH

8. Glasgow going from 0-10 to 5-5

9. Fort Campbell never ceases to amaze me

I agree TD. As big as the Highlands win over Cincy X was, the Lawrence County turn around would be at the top of my list. Very cool and I'm very happy for the young men and coaches that stuck with it and made it happen.

I think Highlands being crowned the best team in Cincinnati by winning 1 game in October is pretty impressive! :p

Kudos to Lawrence Co. I had no idea. That's awesome. Congrats to the kids & coaching staff. :thumb:

New coach/coaches last year. Took some time to find out the kids that wanted to work and do things the right way. Lots of sacrifice the first year but it sure has been fun to see those kids going from crying after losing heartbreaking games to great teams to all smiles and bleached hair now .

Offense, special teams and defense. This is the best the defense has played since 1992-93. I think the starters have 5 shutouts the past 7 games.

Pretty nice list. I have to agree that all of them were big events for Kentucky high school football.

Well that's awesome. Sounds like a pretty good coach of the year candidate to me regardless of what they do in the playoffs.

Here we go again with the whinning of, 'lets compare schedules and competition'. I'm sure you are referring to someone who plays for a small school. For some reason he never gets respect! Just watch him play! Everyone knows he's getting the ball and he still gets his yards!

He is one of the best backs in NKY, may be the state.

Being a bit of a homer, I'll add Mason County's first undefeated regular season in school history to the discussion. Although the way the schedule fell I thought it would be a good possibility.

Now that the regular season is over and the new season begins who are some of the teams/players that impressed you the most and are there any players that surprised some of you?

Teams that impressed me the most in NKY.

Brossart- first ever playoffs

Highlands-undefeated and beat St. X in biggest game ever IMO.

Simon Kenton-rolled a very good Ryle team.

Bellevue-well coached and hard hitting team with solid athletes.

Players that were most impressive.

Ricky Buckler-rushing stats, scoring stats and kid never leaves the field.

Miles Simpson-runs like an NFL back and makes defenders look silly at times.

Travis Elliot-attitude or not the kid is impressive for a sophomore.

Nick West-Mr Offense- can run and throw..will be a good college QB.

Brandon Roller- hardest hitting LB in the state and has nose for ball.

I agree that everyone on the list has impressive stats and congratulations to all. My point was misunderstood and again I mean no disrespect for the players mentioned.
