Truly an amazing story isn't it?

It sure is my hat is off to them. Congrats to all who are involved. Good luck except if they are playing Bell County.

Absolutely not. Maybe one of the most noteworthy one-year turnarounds in KY HS football in a long, long time.

Games with common opponents in 08 and 09:

Boyd County: 13-28, 26-16

Greenup County: 0-19, 52-12

Rowan County: 0-46, 29-14

Sheldon Clark: 12-30, 36-30

To bad this story hasn't been out there like it should be because they deserve the credit and should get the spotlight. Wow what a turn around. Congrats to them.

Now that the regular season is over and the new season begins who are some of the teams/players that impressed you the most and are there any players that surprised some of you?

Teams that impressed me the most in NKY.

Brossart- first ever playoffs

Highlands-undefeated and beat St. X in biggest game ever IMO.

Simon Kenton-rolled a very good Ryle team.

Bellevue-well coached and hard hitting team with solid athletes.

Players that were most impressive.

Ricky Buckler-rushing stats, scoring stats and kid never leaves the field.

Miles Simpson-runs like an NFL back and makes defenders look silly at times.

Travis Elliot-attitude or not the kid is impressive for a sophomore.

Nick West-Mr Offense- can run and throw..will be a good college QB.

Brandon Roller- hardest hitting LB in the state and has nose for ball.

I agree with some on the list but come on, compare the schedules and competition and the names will change except for Roller and Simpson. And this is not being disrespectful to the players mentioned. It's sad that a player gets injured and is no longer considered one of the best players at his position!!!

McCreary Central, Pineville, Somerset are 3 that really impressed me. Player who have impressed. Aaron Watts, Zack Roark from McCreary Central and Rico Brown from Madison So.

Don't forget Somerset, coming off a 5-6 season, lost their coach on the Monday before their one scrimmage then went 10-0 under the guidance of new head coach and former defensive coordinator Robby Lucas. They defeated 5A district champion Pulaski County, 4A district runner-up Knox Central and destroyed Danville 48-7 for the first win against the Ads in 10 years. Lucas should be very much in the running for Coach of the Year. The undefeated regular season for the Briar Jumpers was the first since 1984.

I've been keeping an eye on them. That is a great story too. Is that the same Lucas that used to be at Erlanger Lloyd?

I don't think he was up there, was at SHS as an Asst. since mid 90's (except for 2 years at Lincoln). Coach Lucas deserves consideration for coach of the year, has done a remarkable job under the circumstances.

Does it always have to be about your Boys? I believe the post said players that impressed him the most. He didn't say the absolute best players in the world. Or did he? Evidently maybe you know what he really meant to say? I think he can have an opinion without someone getting on here and saying he is wrong about his opinion. It will be alright we all know your injured player is a great player. Don't be bitter about someone else getting some accolades once in awhile.

Everybody gets a trophy?

No, it doesn't have to always be about my boys!!! You are right about G11 having his opinion and respect his opinion but is it OK if I disagree with it? I didn't say he was wrong I just mentioned that some of the names may change and I mentioned no disrespect to the players mentioned.

By the way I wish we had Miles as one of my boys!!!

Doesn't everyone?

Here we go again with the whinning of, 'lets compare schedules and competition'. I'm sure you are referring to someone who plays for a small school. For some reason he never gets respect! Just watch him play! Everyone knows he's getting the ball and he still gets his yards!

The game that he had against Beechwood speaks for itself.

Lawrence did a great job in turning the program around.

Player wise I would have to say Bourbon Co Taylor Barnes has been big surprise in the state. He started at QB since he was a freshmen and got moved to RB this year he has carried the ball 280 times for 2126 yards. That is pretty good numbers.
