I think he will outshine both his dad and cousin if he doesn't grow complacent, continues to work hard, and gradually improves!

 

IMHO, he is way ahead athletically of where Dallas was at his age, and he is an extremely smart football player, having been brought up around the sport his whole life with a dad who is a very good coach. I think he is poised for a break out sophomore season.

Lawrence County may not have one great running back but like they do every year they should have a pretty strong backfield for this fall.

I failed to mention LCHS in my post earlier, but you are correct in saying that the Bulldogs ALWAYS are strong at the RB positions.:thumb: I wouldn't be suprised at all to see one or more of them near the top this season.

Belfry lost their speediest back from last year, 1000+ yard rusher Matt maynard.

 

But they still return a couple of 1000+ yard rushers, RB Cory Chapman and FB Dustin May. Look for May to move to RB and someone else to fill the FB spot.

You dont hear much about this kid cause he plays at Pike Central but Quirvon Merchant (I know I didnt spell his first name right) is fast as lightning and was about all the offense central had last year but he must learn to keep his emotions in check and he will be a great player.

I understand what you're saying. Lundy has great field vision though and also clocked a 4.68 forty time. Luttrell on the other hand, I do not know much about. I know his father (John) was a freakish athlete.

In the extreme southeast corner of the state, I would rate returning backs that I have seen in this order:

 

1:Christopher (Corbin)

2:Earls (Middlesboro)

3:Roskopft (Lynn Camp)

4:Jeffries (Whitley County)

5:Root (Williamsburg)

 

All of these kids are good high school backs with both speed and power. I agree with some of the posters regarding fresh faces this season. Mike Campbell will be an outstanding sophmore at Corbin if he can stay healthy. Cambell is big, fast and loves contact. He is a prototype Corbin power back cut from Archy Powers, Cotton Adams mold. Corbin's backfield is going to very good. Spencer Greer at Bell County is also going to make some noise. Spencer see's the field very well, is an excellent cut back runner, follows his blockers well and is developing into a Division 1 type athlete physically. Spencer will do fine as the featured runner in the Bell County attack.

Root, I thought he as a guard? Even if he makes the move, he needs to carry the ball first before ranking him. He is a good overall player, and should be good. Right now, Freeman from Corbin, would be ahead of him, a back from Central last year whose name has slipped my mine, but is a talented runner, and Brandenburg from North.
