I have to disagree somewhat. This is the first time I've witnessed fans drink adult beverages at a high school baseball game.

Yes. He was excellent through 4, but struggled with his control much of the night, especially in the later innings.

Great job by NL. They had good pitching, played good defense, and hung around. Then some timely hitting by Seniors Sean Evans and Daniel Smith put the Jags ahead. GC battled back in the 6th, but NL went ahead to stay in the bottom of the 6th. GC did have some passionate fans, but I'd say they were outnumbered 2-1 by NL Fans. Some of the GC fans were feeling pretty good, especially the ones tailgating down the left field line.

No brainer - McWhorter of North Laurel. If it was voted on prior to the tournament, I'd say Stricklin of Williamsburg.

Congrats to the Jaguars, especially Seniors Davd Akers, Sean Evans, Bryce Hicks, Chris-O Maggard, and Daniel Smith. The heart NL played with was amazing, surely Jon Hooker is smiling down on them right now. NL had excellent pitching throughout the tournament, and the job that 8th grader John Damron did against the powerful Middlesboro lineup was amazing. NL's outfield played at another level during the tournament, they were making plays that did not get made in the regular season. The unbelievable catch by RF Tyler Edwards was a perfect example of it. Thanks for the hard work out there guys. IMO, two double plays really played a key role in this championship for NL, the 5-2-3 one against Corbin late in the game, and the one that SS Ryan Evans did against Middlesboro in the 7th. Someone asked who would of thunk it, well I did. I kept telling the boys they could play with any team in the Region, and imo, they did, and beat the best teams in it. Congrats also to the Coaches, and thanks to all of the NL fans for coming out to support the team.

Why would a player quit at this point of the season?

One of the best baseball games that I can remember seeing. Smith pitched a great game through 6, but seemed to melt down in the 7th. Middlesboro would not quit, had their backs against the wall by multiple runs several times, and kept coming back. Tolliver for Middlesboro had the best performance at the plate that I've ever seen in high school. He actually called his HR in the 7th prior to hitting it to tie it up, and how did the shot in extra innings not get out of the park? I think SL's RF made an excellent effort to keep it in play. Excellent game by Logan Baker for SL. It is a shame that either team had to lose this one. Great job to the kids on both teams.

I know that North Laurel plays Corbin at 7pm, and that Harlan plays Lynn Camp on the same side of NL's bracket. I also believe that South Laurel plays Clay County. I guess that would leave Knox Central vs/ Middlesboro?

North Laurel's Matt Doty is moving on to play at EKU. Great kid with a great game.

Are you sure? I thought he played at North and South Laurel in High School.

I played it today, it was my third time. It is an excellent, well manicured public course. Every hole has breathtaking views. The zoysia fairways are awesome. I agree with the Prof that it is a haul (1:45 from London), but it is worth every second of the drive. :thumb:

Not yet. I've been on it, but not playing. I've got several friends who've played it, and I'm supposed to be playing it sometime this spring. Some report it is as nice (or nicer) than Valhalla. It is a dandy.

Morris was hired tonight. They announced it at the baseball game.

I don't think Proffit was playing selfish, I think he was just trying to lead his team. I think the biggest problem for SL is that their big 3 were the ONLY ones involved in the offense, the other 2 (no matter who they were) knew that there was no place for them in the offense. It was almost as if SL was only playing with 3 on offense.

Tubby was at this morning's session. I seriously doubt he was there to see the kid from Adair.

I'll be there, Section 34 I believe.
