  1. GRC shuts out the Wildcats in 5 innings today at Falmouth. This is the first shutout of the Wildcats this year. Pendleton County falls to 6-9 with the loss while GRC improves to 13-4.
  2. Ask any of the former HCHS Players about Coach Whitaker. They love him and they learn about life while playing for him. It's not always fair, it's not always easy, but they do learn. He builds character in his players. The only ones who do not like him are the ones who lose to him on a regular basis. I have had 2 sons play for him and they would fight for him, run through a wall for him, anything he needed. He demands respect, he gets respect and he instills respect.
  3. I was listening to the game on the radio and it sounded as if Beechwood needed some cheese to go with their whine. A quote from Thorobreds play by play man, the old saying of Manny being Manny and Beechwood arguing and then throwing at Fowler was just Beechwood being Beechwood. Umpires don't win and lose games for you, they may miss a call here and there, but you have to make the plays and overcome any calls that you don't agree with to win games. The umpire must have thought they were throwing at Fowler or he wouldn't have approached Coach Meyerhoff. The catcher had no business running his mouth at all and probably should have been tossed. Harrison is improving, but still will not be the team they could have been had Logan Dailey and Ryan Durbin not been injured for their Senior years on the mound. Good luck to Coach Whitaker (A Class Act and best coach in the State of Kentucky) and the rest of the Thorobreds!
  4. Thorobreds win the McDonald's Classic with an 8-5 win over Beechwood. Nice win for the Thorobreds.
  5. I agree on todays game. The pitching, defense and metal toughness left them today in the bottom of the 5th inning. They need to have some vocal leaders on the field step up and take charge when the wheels start to fall off like they did today. They looked as good as I have seen in quite some time for 4 2/3 innings and then, well you already know the rest of the story. They have some good young players in the system and the future looks bright for the Wildcats as long as they continue to work hard!
  6. Yes Valentine is a Senior. Not sure but I think maybe he has already signed. Pendleton is improving but still need to get that "killer instinct" to finish games. That comes from experience and good on the field leadership from the players.
  7. In one of the craziest games I have ever seen, the Sayre Spartans rallied to defeat Pendleton County in the bottom of the 7th inning in Lexington. Pendleton jumped out to a 6-2 lead after 2 innings. With 2 out in the bottom of the 5th and nobody on base Pendleton was cruising as the Wildcats led 13-3. Then the Wilcats fell apart. Sayre scored 5 times with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th to make it 13-8. Pendleton added 3 in the 6th to go up 16-8. Sayre rallied for 2 more in the bottom of the 6th to close the gap to 16-10. After Pendleton left a runner stranded on 3rd base in the top of the 7th, Sayre rallied for 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th to cap off an unbelievable game. Sayre improves to 11-5 with the win, while Pendleton falls to 6-8 snapping their 3 game winning streak.
  8. Pendleton County makes it 3 in a row with the win at Falmouth today. This is their first 3 game win streak in over 2 years. Wildcats improve to 6-7 on the year with a tough matchup at Sayre on Saturday at 11:00. They will have to play a lot better than what they did tonight to compete with Sayre.
  9. Wildcats make it 2 in a row with a 10-5 win at Mason County. Pendleton improves to 5-7 on the season. Mason County continues to struggle through a very tough season following the loss of Coach Murphy just days before the start of the season. Congrats to Pendleton on their 5th win which surpasses their 2010 season total for wins.
  10. In addition, the polls mean absolutely nothing. The Baseball Polls are probably the least accurate of the 3 major sports.
  11. Wildcats snap a 4 game losing streak with a 5-1 win at Falmouth tonight. Dustin Warner and Trent Turner combine for the win. Pendleton County improves to 4-7 on the season.
  12. If I'm not mistaken 310 down the left field line, 315 down the right field line and 325 to center. But, it's been a long time since I have seen 9 HR's in a game even at Harrison with the wind blowing out.
  13. It was 4-3 after 2 or 3 innings and 8-3 going into the 6th so the final is about as close as the game was for the most part. Both teams used a lot of substitutes and young players. In fact I think a Senior was pitching for Harrison in the 7th. Harrison 13 - 17 - 2 Pendleton 9 - 9 - 1
  14. It was about a 4 run game for most of the game. Fowler did have 3 HR's, King 2 HR's and I am not sure who had the other HR's for Harrison. Turner and Valentine homered for the Wildcats.
  15. Final from the "Launching Pad" in Falmouth. Harrison County hit 7 HR's and Pendleton hit 2 HR's. Harrison County improves to 7-5 while Pendleton County drops to 3-7.
  16. Final. Colonels rally from 7-3 deficit to win this one in Falmouth today. Wildcats fall to 3-6 on the year. Colonels improve to 10-3 on the season.
  17. I agree they will be improved, but no where near what they would have been before they lost Daily for the year. They have a long way to go to be considered State contenders. Martin was on the mound and gave up 8 of the runs to Male, so they are beatable with him on the mound too.
  18. Nice bounce back win for the Thorobreds after losing a tough one to Western Hills on Thursday.
  19. Pendleton County playing without 2 starters were able to overcome a 3 run defecit twice and pulled out the win. The defense for both teams had a hard time in the outfield thanks to the 25-30 mph wind gusts. Pendleton hit the ball very well and got the timely pitching and defense when they needed it. It was nice to see them come from behind and fight for the win. Pendleton County improves to 3-3 on the season.
  20. The grand slam and the last 4 runs in the 6th were the difference. I think Pendleton had closed the gap to 8-4 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. Pendleton just needs to get some games under their belt and get a few wins to build some confidence.
