Congrats to all who signed to play college ball. Please let them know that the intensity at the next level does not compare to Harrison County Baseball. The main thing is to keep the grades up and enjoy your time playing ball for as long as it lasts.

Congratulations to the Thorobreds and Coach Whitaker! Hats off to Louisville Butler for playing their hearts out and taking it right down to the final out. I have seen 3 of Harrison County's State Championship Games and this was the most exciting of the 3. Butler Bears keep your heads up, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Harrison County Thorobreds, your hard work paid off and I am so proud to be a part of the Harrison County Baseball Family. Harrison County Baseball "A MATTER OF PRIDE".

With Chasteen and Dailey finished for the Championship, Harrison will have to rely on the rest of the staff to get it done. I know one thing for sure, there will be plenty of support for the Thorobreds in the stands. Good luck Thorobreds, let's bring home #4!

The umpire said Simpson "slid away from the bag, and he was kind of vague to tell you the truth," Driskell said. "That's life, and that's baseball. ... We had our chances, and that didn't beat us." It was a close call, but a judgement call. The 2nd base umpire did not hesitate in making the call and he was watching the runner and fielder at 2nd base. I was not at the game and I saw it on the web, but couldn't tell from the camera angle. I know Doug Flynn was really questioning the call on the radio. Congrats to Male on a great season. Good luck Thorobreds tonight against an always tough Butler team.

Yeah it was showing at the State Tourney. He was 3-4 mph faster than anyone I have seen at Applebee's so far. He struck out 5 of the 9 batters he faced.

Congrats to the Thorobreds on a nice all around game. Look out 3rd Region for the Freshman Pitcher from Daviess County Snyder (sp.) as he was consistantly in the low to mid 80's topping out at 85. Good luck to the Thorobreds against Louisville Male on Friday.

I have thought about the conversation I witnessed the other night and the more I think about it, the more I can understand Mr. Tackett's response. I just posted what I heard and it irked me. I was upset about what I heard him say and I should have stayed off the computer. I know that most all fans can be irritating and I have been one of those fans at times in the past. I do not know Mr. Tackett personally and it was wrong of me to judge him, his character and his ability to do his job based on the conversation I overheard. I am making a public apology to Mr. Tackett on a thread that I should have never started. I hope we can now move on to the game at hand tonight. Good luck to the Thorobreds against Daviess County. I hope I can see you all play in the Championship Game on Saturday night! GO BREDS!

That comment is so ridiculous. Rules are rules whether you like them or not. The bottom line is that the rules should be enforced the same. It doesn't matter if it is the 1st game of the season, the 1st round of the State Tournament or the State Championship game. An umpire should have the guts to make the call by the rules, period. Congrats to Clay County on a good season and good luck to my beloved Thorobreds and Coach Mac Whitaker against Daviess County.

Anybody that comes out of that Region is usually pretty good. It will be a better game than the Clay County game, but I think Harrison County will win this one.

If you play golf at Harrison County you do get to keep the golf ball. That is if you don't lose it in the woods or the water. And, exactly what would you eject the fan for, asking a question and asking for an explaination or an interpretation of a rule? The problem was Tackett knew it was the wrong call and he also knew that the ump that threw the Harrison County player out last year blew the call. One thing you can say for the Harrison County fan base, they know their baseball, they are loyal to their team, pleayers and coaches and they win. Good luck to the Thorobreds against Daviess County.

Tackett wasn't polite about any of the conversation. His best move would have been to ignore the fan. To be successful as a commisioner or an umpire you must be thick skinned and not so quick with the smart mouth. You will earn respect then.

He had a clear path to the plate and obviously from the still frame intentionally and maliciously made contact with the Harrison County catcher by lowering his shoulder and running into him. He is making no effort to reach home plate with his hands. There is a slide rule in High School baseball and obviously the Umpire and the Commisioner who is in charge of umpires flips a coin on whether or not to enforce it. Not sure how you think the Harrison fan made it personal. Apparently you don't know Julian Tackett very well. I guess you had to be there to see for yourself and understand what a jerk Tackett was.

I have been around high school sports for 15+ years and you may be the first person to ever give Tackett a kudos for anything. Good luck to the Thorobreds on Wednesday against Clay County. Finish what you started tonight.

Disrespectful with a big D as in capitol D. Clay County threatened in the top of the first, but John Wilson was gunned down at the plate. Wilson tried to score from first on Brandon Griffin’s double down the left-field line, but Harrison County’s Eric Sanders tracked down the ball, threw to the cut-off man, shortstop Jared Martin. Martin’s relay to catcher Hunter Hill was perfect, and Hill tagged Wilson and held onto the ball after getting bowled over. This is a quote from Mike Fields. And who ran his mouth too much? In my opinion Tackett did.

I think you are mistaken. Harrison County wanted to finish the game last year too. Playing 2 games the same day was a huge disadvantage to Harrison County against Lexington Catholic.

I attended the State Tournament games tonight at Applebee's Park. In the top of the 1st inning in the Harrison County vs Clay County game the Clay County catcher intentionally ran over the Harrison County catcher making no attempt to slide. Hunter Hill the Harrison County catcher held on to the ball for the final out. The Clay County player lowered his shoulder and should have been ejected from the game. During the rain delay a very knowledgeable Harrison County fan asked the Commish to be why they didn't throw the Clay County player out of the game. Tackett's reply was, "I wasn't umpiring!". The Harrison County fan replied, "Well it wouldn't have mattered if you had been". Tackett's response was, "Don't be running your mouth". This is the person that was chosen by the KHSAA to lead them starting July 1st? Unreal!!!!! There is no consistancy in high school umpiring and no leadership in the KHSAA.

Not aware of anything. A 4-27 season kinda gives you a sour taste in baseball I would think.
