Another great HC/GRC battle....they are always close.

By the way the Lady Cards are playing the Fillies in the 10th region softball championship right now.

Do you have a score and can keep us updated? Thanks.

I agree the HC/GRC games are always great ones. Very proud of the Cards and holding HC scoreless 2-6 innings. Withrow goes the distance for the Cards and did a great job.

GRC is up 4-1 in the 3rd...I'll update as much as I can in Softball.

Thank you so much.:thumb:

Sounds like it was a good game that lived up to expectations.

Congrats to the Breds and Cardinals. Best of luck Breds in the Championship game and great season Cards.

It's amazing how Mac's teams always seem to get it done in crunch time.

Good luck to the Breds in the finals!

In the first inning, the Cardinals (29-10) got off to a quick start when Harrison County pitcher Logan Daly walked Tyler Cain and Logan McQuerry. Anthony Withrow, who started on the mound for the Cardinals, laced a double, scoring Cain. T.K. Korb then hit a single down the right field line to score McQuerry. Passed balls by Daly scored Withrow and advanced Korb to third. Joe Fisher then reached base on a walk, but was left stranded at the end of the inning.

Harrison County returned the favor, when their first two batters reached base on a single and an error. Two sacrifice flies and a groundout scored the team’s first two runs , and the inning ended with a 3-2 score in favor of the Cardinals.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Thoroughbreds’ lead-off batter reached base on a single through the infield. The second batter laid down a bunt to the pitcher, but reached base on an error, advancing the lead-off batter to third. A sacrifice fly to deep center field scored the tying run. The Cardinals found themselves on the ropes with the score tied, one out and a runner on, but the next three batters reached base on infield errors, scoring the winning run.

Withrow pitched a complete game for the Cardinals, facing 29 batters. He had two strikeouts, didn’t allow a walk, scattered five hits and gave up four runs.
