State Tournament Updates

Featured Replies

Can someone at the State Tournament please post any updates as some of us are not able to listen to the games due to firewall issues.

After a shower went through from about 9:00 to 10:00 this morning, it looks like the rain will stay away for most of today's games. Does anyone know if the first game got started on time?

Thanks.

Any further updates?

Pikeville won 8-7. Greenup won 20-2.

I think Greenup won 5-2 not 20-2 but still knocks out one of the 5 ranked teams... Also Shelby County was up 3-0 after the 1st inning against West Jessamine, from what I heard WJ made 3 or 4 errors in the 1st.

Sorry about the Greenup score, I just pulled it from Frake's blog. I did notice KHSAA had the score as 5-2. I guess the 20 represented GC's ranking.

Butler 7

Boone County 2

This game ended at 12:30...

Edited by KY Thorobred

From Mike Field's game notes:

The McGrath kid must be some kind of pitcher.

Butler senior lefty Kyle McGrath, an EKU signee, was virtually unhittable as he led the Bears to a 7-2 victory over Boone County in the last first-round state tournament game Monday night. Actually, the game didn’t finish until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Applebee’s Park.

McGrath gave up only 3 hits and had 16 strikeouts. He fanned everybody in the Rebels’ batting order at least once, and he struck out the side four times, including the seventh inning.

Butler advances to play West Jessamine in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.

Daviess County 7

Hopkinsville 4

Warren Central 3

Male 0

4th Inning

Male rallied late to beat Warren Central 5-4. Bulldogs will now play the Lone Oak/Lexington Christian winner Thursday evening at 6.

Tonight's games:

6:00 - Lone Oak/Lexington Christian

8:30 - Harrison County/Clay County (winner plays Daviess County Thursday night at 8:30)

Thanks for the updates. Much appreciated!

LCA up 5-1 after 6 in the first game of tonight.
