After reading the local paper tonight, it appears as if Harrison County Pitching ace Logan Dailey has suffered a season ending arm injury. As a fan of the Harrison County Baseball programs for many years, this is such a loss for the Thorobreds. Not only is Logan a great Pitcher, he is a super young man, very polite, he just goes out and does his job, doesn't run his mouth and is one of the nicest young me you could ever meet. His parents are special too. Prayers to Logan for a speedy recovery! The article also stated that Senior lefty Ryan Durbin was not playing this year. I'm sure Coach Whitaker and staff will have them competitive in the 10th Region, but a repeat of a State Title may be out of reach now.

Not sure why anyone would make predictions so bold even before the season starts. I agree that Harrison should be tough again, but there are a lot of roadblocks to winning a State Championship especially with all the players they lost from last year. The last time a team won back to back State Championships it was Harrison County in 1997-1998. Good luck to the Breds, but Wall11 please don't expect too much too soon from this year's team.

I agree that a list is fine. The Coach owes nobody an explaination. I too was cut this way years ago and I survived. Quit babying today's youth! Not everybody makes the team, not everyone gets a trophy and so on. If the player really wants to play, the player will take it upon themself to go ask the coach what they can do to improve to be able to make the team next year. The Coach will respect the player and may even find a way to make that player a part of the team. There are very few players if any who get cut and don't know why!

A good team can hit a 90 mph fastball if that is all they have. The pitcher that wins the game is the one who can mix it up and most importantly locate. Chapman of the Reds was hitting 100 mph+ and getting ripped this year. High Schoolers hitting a 90 mph fastball is no different.

That is a rough way to lose it. Do they have any Seniors?

Harrison blew a almost a 20 point lead in the 2nd half.

3 pointer at the buzzer in the 38th District Championship! What a game! Harrison County took the lead 60-58 with 2.8 seconds to go and Pendleton hit the game winner at the buzzer.

I don't think so. Josh Hamm is a 2001 graduate from Harrison County and was a member of 2 State Championship teams while playing for Coach Mac Whitaker. He also played collge baseball at University of Cumberlands for Coach Shelton.

I think he would still pass on College Coaching. I can not say for sure, but I know that his name has been mentioned several times before for College positions. So, I'm not sure what he has been offered or even if he has had an offer. When he steps down at Harrison County he may scout or something or he may just walk away from it. I don't look for him to go in to College Baseball.

So lets hear about the powder delay! Who's bright idea was that?

So sorry to hear of Coach Murphy's passing. My prayers go out to his family, friends, players and associates. May God bless his family as they deal with his passing.

Mike Murphy Mason County's longtime Timekeeper, Bus Driver, Baseball Coach and longtime friend has taken ill Sunday morning. Harrison County has a superb Baseball Program and the National Coach of the Year in Mac Whitaker. The youth of Harrison County play baseball and they want to play on State Championship teams. Coach Whitaker has won 4 State Championships during his tenure at Harrison County. They lost a lot of key players from 2010, but the 10th Region is still theirs to lose in 2011. Ace Logan Dailey could be one of the top players in the state this year. Also have strong pitching staff with some depth returning.

I think that Pendleton has a good chance to move up the list some, maybe as high as an 8 or 9. Just my opinion, based on the coaching change. I think they could have been higher in the past, they have had some talent.

It used to be that more people came to games at harrison County to watch the band than the football team. The HCHS is not what it used to be and I haven't been to a football game in 3+ years, so I am not sure what the situation is now.

How many kids actually play in the Pendleton County Youth Leagues? Do they have T-Ball, Coach Pitch and Little League and if so, how many teams in each age group? It sounds as if many of the kids play and travel which can be good as long as they don't get burned out or their arms ruined before they get to high school. I saw a coach pitch his assistant coaches son with a broken bone in his hand at 12 which helped him win the league, but by all-stars he couldn't even throw the ball from 1st base to homeplate. At 11 and 12 he was a great pitching prospect and he never was able to pitch. So sad that winning the league was so important to the coaches that this kids future career was over at age 12.
