Sorry to hear this for the Greendevils. They try very hard to make it work and have always played hard. As sad as it may seem, it's the only option they had. I also feel bad for Ludlow and any opponent Dayton had remaining, if it's true they need to forfeit the remainder of their schedule. Also, the old Campbell County Superintendent, who's at Pendleton now, once said the plan was in place to merge Newport, Bellevue and Dayton and create a Campbell County North High School, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

Stuff does happen, but you're too smart to really believe a fight is not a big deal. If they fight during a game what happens? Are they disqualified or is it not a big deal? If they're disqualified for a fight, how many games does that player lose? So, if you're a senior, and have 10 regular season games left, but get into a fight and lose two of those games it's not a big deal? My main focus with this is to practice good habits and lead by example. I understand kids fight, I really do, but it's not okay to fight at school. I have witnessed fights in football games and have seen the aftermath and it is a big deal. We can agree to disagree, it's the nature of this board. I'm not a Ryle fan, nor am I a fan of their coach. I too played football, but I never saw a fight in practice. We did win a lot, so you have a great point there.

Under no circumstance, nor at any time, is it okay for high school kids to be fighting at school or the playing field during an organized school activity. This isn't a professional team, nor are they grown men. If players were fighting at practice they should be suspended or removed from the team. If coaches were fighting at practice, they must be removed from their positions because they've forfeited their right to lead and set an example for young athletes in a high school sports setting. If the girls soccer team was scheduled to be on the field at that time, it is their time to be on the field, which is how every high school and college sports team handle the use of facilities. The safety of your student athlete's is the paramount objective as the head coach. Winning is a distant second. I don't know what truly happened here, but I do know school systems and their protocol. And if someone was hurt, Guru said it best, break out the checkbook 'cause we going to Sizzler!

This is an interesting game to pick. SK will be bigger up front, which usually gives BW trouble, but the BW speed may be too much for SK. I like the Tigers here, but SK has always rebounded well after a tough loss so nothing will surprise me.

If his appeal is denied, he may return to Adair to play, if he chooses. I would think they would file an injunction at that point. Can't say I'm real knowledgable of his situation, but three schools in three years makes any change of address suspect, job or no job.

To be honest, I was impressed with both teams tonight, even though Newport was far superior. Ludlow is very well built and looks as good as most 1A teams in the state. They need to have less turnovers and must negate the big play, but they play very hard. Newport is so athletic. Wow! Their speed and ability is incredible. If they defend, they will be tough to beat. Congrats to Joe Wynn and his team on a very well played game.

I hope this is not his diagnosis. Hate hearing this for any player. Congrats to both on a hard fought game and to Eddie and the Cruisers on the win!

Things can heat up at Cooper all they want, the fact is Randy Borchers isn't going anywhere unless he chooses to go. Cooper isn't Ryle, where parents and assistant coaches storm the castle to get the coach fired. Cooper isn't Highlands, where arrogance and ignorance of the masses are used to try and get their coach fired. So they practiced long and hard on a warm day, good. They need to practice. And if was intense, good. Cooper has had a top notch coaching staff there for quite some time and I know they wouldn't put kids in harm's way. They're trainer, who's been there for a long time, would never allow any staff to put kids in harm's way. If this "heat" is anything, it's from parents who don't understand the ways of the coaching world. Randy Borchers is a perfectionist, like so many of our head coaches. Cooper's players, who are talented, are still learning how to win games and not let mistakes beat them. Do you think it was any different for the kids who played at Cov Cath for Eddie those first couple seasons he was there? Does anyone think Noel Rash or Jeff Marksberry give their kids light practices after losses and games where mistakes have cost them? Wake up, because I know better. Time has made our parents and kids soft, which has made them better at life, but not at athletics. I named four of the best head coaches in NKY in this post and my son could play for any one of them because he would be a better player and man for having done so. I'm happy for Mike Woolf and his kids. He's an incredible man and a great football coach. The Stephen Lickert hate is getting stupid though.

Very sad to hear. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, as well as his community.
