I'm not a big fan of the 14 foot coaches box, but understand why it's in place. Personally, I think officials in the BBA are some of the best in the state. With that said, if a coach is coaching, and not talking/yelling at an official, then I would hope they would be leanient on that 14 feet.

Is Austin Hergott playing with the freshman? I noticed him dressing up some last year, but didn't know if that meant anything. Big body, great kid.

Henry, this is inaccurate. Officials who work in the semi-final do not work in the finals. State championship crews work the regional final and state final together, but they do not work the semi's.

I would have to say this will be one of the cooler stories leading up to the championship games this weekend. Both have done tremendous jobs with their respective schools! If you think back, Randy Borchers was rumored to be a finalist for the Dixie job, but chose to stay at Cooper and continue to build on what he and his staff had begun. It would be a tremendous accomplishment for both Newcath & Cooper to capture state titles, but would be an even greater victory to those of us who prefer loyal, hard-working men lead our children. I, for one, have always rooted for each and every NKY team who gets the chance to play in the state finals. Nothing could make this member happier than a clean sweep this weekend. Congrats to Randy Borchers and the Cooper Jags! Everyone in NKY should be proud of this group of boys and how far they've come in five years! I don't know what lies ahead for them, but good Lord willing, they will bring back hardware to Northern Kentucky for the first time in the short history of 5A football!!!

Just an unbelievable run Cooper is on! I hope that their parents, fans, players, staff, and community have enjoyed this journey. Such a special group of kids. I'd love to see them make it to Bowling Green to be able to give their best shot to whomever ends up there against them. Also, I know it's been said more and more recently, but Randy Borchers and his staff have done a marvelous job in building their program. Best of luck to them going forward.

Maybe I'm late to the party on this one, but I just looked at the DQ list on the KHSAA site and it now lists two players from Cov Cath as being DQ'd and one from Conner. All three received two game suspensions. I know CC originally had three, so with that said I'm glad the state saw the third player had nothing to do with the incident and removed his suspension. I'm sure that young man was happy.

I think it's been changed to 6:30.

Jeff Barth has done a fine job at WV since taking over for Woody McMillian a few years ago. He's a high character person and surrounds himself with high character people. If he were to win the COY award, it wouldn't surprise me at all. He does deserve to be in the conversation at the very least. Randy and Dave have also done outstanding jobs with their kids this year. Everyone knew Cooper would be good, but no one thought Dixie would be good and they've surprised everyone. Personally, I'd like to see a Co-COY award, but that's not going to happen. All three of these men have represented their programs, their communities and their families well. All great coaches in my book!

I would say Cooper still being in the hunt to get the one seed in their district forces them to play their starters. Dixie will not change anything bc they're on a roll, plus it's senior night. This could be a dandy! Does anyone know if what I said about Cooper playing for the one seed is correct? I don't know if that will have been determined by Friday or not.

Did Fogle get hurt in a game? I don't remember reading about this anywhere. Tough loss for Conner if he's out for any period of time. Sounds like it was a great game. Best of luck to both teams the rest of their way.

This should be a really good game. However, Holy Cross/NCC was the regional final game. HC/OC played in round two. Congrats to WV on the win and on a fine season!
