Highlands Lex Cath Referees

Featured Replies

To keep the game thread from being hijacked, this topic deserves its own thread. This had to be the worst crew of Refs I've seen at a high school game, ever. The Referee was absolutely pathetic and needs to find another hobby to get himself out of the house on weekends, because he has no future in football. He inserted himself into this game and he and his entire crew looked inept.

And no, it's not sour grapes, the bias of the crew was not enough to cause Highlands to lose the game or even make it close . This crew was just so bad it needs to be pointed out. It was so ridiculous that at one point, after the LC coach successfully lobbied the crew to overturn a ruling of a highlands recovered fumble, allowing LC to maintain possession, the Head Linesman and the LC head coach embraced one another in an affectionate man hug. The entire crew should be ashamed.

Oh good, a referee thread. It seems like it has been a while since we've had one of those.

I think we've figured out what happened to the NFL replacements. The are all in the KHSAA Officiating pool.

My favorite line in the stands after a no call on an obvious LC hold: "How'd you miss that, ref? Stevie Wonder saw it!"

I think one ref helped tie a lex cath back's shoe that had come untied. Another gave the Lex Cath head coach a hug.

On this particular play I think the refs got the call right. It was a forward pass and was rightfully called incomplete. BUT... what happened next was ridiculous. Instead of putting the ball back to the original line of scrimmage, they put it at the point where the Highlands player recovered the "fumble." This resulted ina 5 yard gain awarded to LC for an incomplete pass!

These were horrible refs. Calling borderline holding calls, but ignoring blatant pass interference on at least 3 occasions.

So what is the ruling on an onside kick (Charlie Brown) attempt by LexCath. Is it a do over or should it of been HHS ball at that spot? He did knock the ball off the tee when he basically wiffed. Just trying to clarify!

That really hacked me off. I thought that if a player had equipment problems that couldn't be solved in a matter of seconds, they had to leave the field and be replaced. Instead, the ref is helping the guy remove his gloves so he can tie his shoe. Crazy!

As we were looking down on one of those missed calls, at the endzone closest to the middle school, the ref was standing on the line as the two players were both going for a McCoy pass. Just before the blatant infraction on LC, the ref literally turned his head left toward the school building. From our angle above and maybe 4 feet behind him, there was no way he could've seen the end of the play. Like he turned his head on purpose to "miss" any possible interference. His head was turned too far to even consider seeing it out of the corner of his eye.

So does anyone know what happened to the 15 yard penalty on LexCath when they gave HHS the fumble on the forward pass. I get that the play was brought back and reversed in LexCath's favor. I'm okay with that. It was the right call! What wasn't right is that they waived off the 15 yard sideline penalty on LexCath in which the coach basically charged onto the field. Poof!!! Gone!!! Like nothing ever happened. That's sort of when the refs lost all control of the Ballgame. Hey #70, you made a very entertaining game to watch a very disturbing thing to witness. So sad!!!!

Someone near me said the flag was a sideline warning, like they do when players are closer than 3 yards to the field.
