I just got to see this game on film and I am disgusted by three things.

 

First, the conduct of #70 for Lexington Catholic is despicable. To say that his play was dirty could not do justice. What I saw was a player hell bent on hurting other players. This occurred throughout the game and escalated to nearly every play as the game went into the 4th quarter.

 

The referees in this game missed some calls, but to have missed the conduct of this player for the entirety of the game is shameful and inexcusable. If they missed it because they just did not have the ability to see the infractions indicates that they are incompetent. If they saw and did nothing is something far worse.

 

For Coach Letton to allow this on his team is outrageous and immoral. To be the head coach of a high school football team, much less one that represents the Catholic Church, and do nothing to stop this is beyond comprehension. It is not possible for him, or anyone else, to not have seen what was taking place and to have not removed his player is to condone the behavior. When #30 for Highlands was flagged for trying to get at # 70 after getting drilled in the back well after the whistle, Highlands coaches removed him from the game and did not allow him to return. Letton had every opportunity to remove his player and did nothing. In fact his infractions became more blatant.

 

I know kids will talk on the field and sometimes there is even dirty play. What took place in this game is something way beyond that and it, and the people responsible, have no business being involved in high school athletics. I can only hope that the KHSAA will act on this. More importantly, I hope that someone at Lexington Catholic will look at this and see that something should be done about the manner in which their school and religion are being represented.

Maybe someone needs to make sure the KHSAA and the Superintendent at LexCath get a copy. No way should that punk get away with that kind of behavior.

Being Catholic is totallty irrevelant and has nothing to do with the way the kid acted.

The fact remains that Letton is the adult here and the responsible leader of the football program and he should be held accountable by the AD and others above.

And just because Highlands used to be called the Blue Devils and changed their name to Bluebirds doesnt make them better Christians. :lol:

I think Lex Cath has become the Birds' new "Johnson Central". I simply can't wait for next season's game.

At minute 3:53 you catch a good glimpse of #70 head butting a Bluebird 3-4 times during and after the play. It's painful to watch.

I can't agree with you more. It was the ugliest display of poor sportsmanship by any team that I have ever seen. I think Lexington Catholic's coach & team need to apologize for their actions.

And I believe the JC rival really started to brew after the cheap shot from behind by the JC player trailing a Highlands TD when the Birds center Tyler Combs was hit at the knee and darn near cost him his football career.

Something about those types of plays that upset the Birds...
