Let it go folks. I don't know the player, but I know Coach Letton. He's a good man. Even if he did make a mistake by not yanking the kid off the field, it was just that. A mistake. He's still a heck of a good person and a heck of a good coach. We won. We won big. Let's move on. This thread as more than ran its course.

You're right about one thing. The thread has run its course. As for Letton and his staff, I can't see letting this go as just a mistake. Good men don't stand by and let that kind of garbage happen play after play. If by "good" you mean that he treats his kids well and minds his manners at social functions, I think it should go deeper than that. Obviously it doesn't.

If you want to make judgments of a man based on one instance, by all means do so. But I know a whole lot of people in FT that should be thankful I don't do the same. I'm thankful that a whole lot of people don't judge me based on one instance too. Letton is a good man based on my definition of a good man. My guess is that you have never personally met the man in your life. I have (and it wasn't at a social function either). He's a solid coach, a solid person and a great father from everything I know about him. That makes him a good man in my opinion, even if he made a mistake Friday night. I won't defend what happened Friday night. But it by itself will not change my opinion of him.

But it wasn't one instance. It was a series of instances over the course of a game, one of which has been captured forever for all to watch and be shocked by. Overlooking something that egregious once is understandable, and I can even understand it happening twice, but what happened Friday was inexcusable as you said. No, I haven't met him, and I don't pretend to have the knowledge of the game or of what goes on behind the scenes that you have, but Friday night went a long way toward shaping my opinion of him. And of LexCath. What it boils down to is that if this had happened with a Highlands coach and/or player, I'd be finding a new way to spend my Friday nights.

Unfortunately, we found out today that our son WILL be missing the game due to being head butted by #70. Watched the play on Hudl - it was sickening to see. You can see him throw his head back and head butt him. He had just came back after a concussion injury from the Ryle game. First play in #70 hit him hard and he's out for state.

 

 

HHS just has to be relieved that none of its players will miss the state championship due to either (1) an injury due to the numerous cheap shots by LC late in the game or (2) being thrown out of the game by the less than competent officials.

I REALLY hate hearing that. I hate to call out individual players here but what #70 did was gutless and classless.

That is a real shame...sorry to hear it.

Connor Poston wasn't the only head butting victim. Joe Paolucci #2 got it as well and won't be playing in the state game due to a concussion.
