I just spent the last few minutes watching just six plays on Hudl....towards the end of the game. Being able to watch just these clips in real time and slo mo, just, um, can't find the words....Every single play shows #70 consistently and continuously head butting #9 Hicks. I don't know how the kid doesn't have a concussion too. When he wasn't getting head butted, he was getting punched, sometimes 2-3 times he was swung at. And this player is PROUD of himself?

 

I just spent the last few minutes myself watching the LexCath/Boyle game. # 57 for Boyle has to have a concussion. If not, then he was wearing a headbutting resistant helmet. It went on in other games. Which leads me to believe that the coaches had to know. I don't know LexCath's coaches, but these actions speak volumes.

 

Oh and I'm guessing we will see a record number of penalties this Friday eve. After the info I received, I would be shocked if we don't get called for an insane number of holding calls. Just saying.

Just the SIX plays I viewed turned my stomach. He kept doing it because he kept getting away with it. I don't know how more obvious it can be when he's in the open and right in full view of multiple ref's. He looked like a bobble head out there. The last of the six plays has the HHS player trying to stay out of his grasp so he doesn't get hit anymore.

I'm sure since the refs are getting bashed on here by the Highlands fans he is probably referring to the fact that they will have it out for the Birds on Friday.

I know this would never happen, nor I would guess anyone has ever thought of it, but when a punk like #70 who apparently is enjoying the way he behaved during the game by tweeting the comments he's tweeting etc. As well as the coaching staff not saying a word of apology for the gutless behavior they allowed to happen. Maybe a lessen needs to be learned by LC's coaching staff and players and especially #70. I would laugh if assault charges were brought against the goon myself. I know it's extreme etc. but it is actually assault and if nothing else wakes them up maybe legal action may deter something like that from ever happening again.

 

I know it's very extreme and I know it would never happen, but if it did, i'd love to sit back and see what Lex Cath. response would be.

 

There is a poor kid for HHS who now does not get the chance to play in the State championship game, not because of something that occured in the spirit of the game, but because of intentionally trying to hurt him that had nothing to do with the play or the game in general.

I agree it is wrong and ugly and I think Highlands has made its point both on the field:thumb:and off the field bringing attention to this:madman:

I especially feel for both Highlands players that will miss due to this out of control behavior. It makes me sick to my stomach to watch this go on during the game.

 

I know this is easy for me to say this because my son is not one of those injured by this but it really is time to move on and get focused on Collins.

This is what Highlands does best, we move on to our next obstacle and take care of business as usual and we never look in the rear mirror.

 

 

 

FWIW, we havent seen a LC post in almost 40 hits...Perhaps somebody went back and watched a little film and also agrees that what happened isnt acceptable. Besides, as much as I love Highlands and bleed Blue, I wouldnt stand behind any kid that wore the H on the helment and embarrassed the program.

But it wasn't one instance. It was a series of instances over the course of a game, one of which has been captured forever for all to watch and be shocked by. Overlooking something that egregious once is understandable, and I can even understand it happening twice, but what happened Friday was inexcusable as you said. No, I haven't met him, and I don't pretend to have the knowledge of the game or of what goes on behind the scenes that you have, but Friday night went a long way toward shaping my opinion of him. And of LexCath. What it boils down to is that if this had happened with a Highlands coach and/or player, I'd be finding a new way to spend my Friday nights.

 

Fair enough. Even though I was at the game and in an endzone, I didn't see any of this happening. When I made the post you quoted, I was aware of only the one instance that I saw on the youtube clip. Evidently he had been doing it on other occasions, which I have to assume the LexCath coaches in the press box saw (particularly the one in the youtube link as it is out in the open). Can't say if Letton saw it for certain because I know that when you are at field level, you often miss things that can be seen from a higher elevation. In any event, the LexCath coaches in the press box most likely had to have seen it going on. If they said something to Coach Letton about it and he did nothing about or if he saw it and did nothing about it, it does greatly diminish my opinion of him. If they didn't say anything to Coach Letton and he didn't see it, maybe not.

 

I won't judge all of LexCath and all of their players because of this kid's actions, which were deplorable.

Please don't misinterpret my earlier posts supporting Coach Letton as in any way condoning what 70 did.

 

Because I know Coach Letton, I'm totally shocked that 70 was allowed to remain in the game by the LexCath coaches now that I've learned the head butting wasn't a one time occurrence.

At 1:07 he made another attempt to strike a blow. I don't think he made any contact though but I feel from looking at the video and what he did later in the game he was giving it a try for sure. I'm over it and really feel sorry for the HHS kids that had to suffer through this abuse. And after reading the banter back and forth through Twitter between the HHS kids and the player in question, I know now all I need to know about this young man. Time for me to move on as well!

Both were head butted by #70. Not sure if others were doing it as well - at least not as blatantly as he did.

 

My son told me about this the other night. It's like he has the mentality that if they aren't going to win, he'll make sure to take as many players out of the game as possible. Would be interesting to know if #70 played like this all season against other teams, or did he save it up for the Birds?

As the lone LexCath poster around here let me say I am personally embarrassed by what is on the film and can only personally apologize that it occurred. I am dishearted and very upset that it results in a player not playing. I am very upset at that fact.

 

I am not on staff at the school and am not on football staff formally. So I do not communicate in any manner than a parent. I do not go to film, etc. I do not know what the sideline coaches saw or knew or did not see, etc. I do not know if they saw the first one and counciled him thinking it was a one-off reaction or what. If you did not see it directly I do not think you would believe what is happening. I can say that I would expect some type of follow-up and actions. This incident is well beyond rough or aggressive play by any standard. It should have been flagged and I would say even an ejection in order on the first one. That did not happen and now there is a lot of angst. This is something that should have a specific closure in my personal opinion. But I have not visibility or say in that but hope it is done and will certainly look into it.

 

I do know that this type of action is not at all common, its not coached, its not encouraged. I realize that may sound hollow at this point but I know it to be a fact and had 3 kids go through the program and they would not be doing so if this were tolerated, much less encouraged. I see what others see and feel sick. Especially seeing it was not a one time incident. I have no idea what the young man in question was thinking. I can not recall one personal foul on him directly all season or even a holding call. He is certainly not considered a hot head or overly aggressive player. I am at a complete loss to explain the actions. But they are there and they were completely beyond anything that should have happened on the field.

 

It was a hard hitting game and it had a lot of emotion to it by everyone. But nothing, repeat nothing, rationalizes the head butting seen there. I will say again, I am personally embarrassed and very upset about the injuries. I can only offer personal apologies.
