Final from Verona.

District looks like this

Walton-Verona vs. Newport

Owen County vs. Holy Cross

Carroll County @ Lloyd Memorial

Gallatin County @ Newport Central Catholic

Good job Bearcats! :thumb:

With all due respect for the Brossart faithful, the 'Stangs need to go the same route as Pendleton Co. for a few years.

The Owen County vs Holy Cross is a interesting matchup. This is a re-match from last years regional finals. I think this will be a good game.

This should be a really good game. However, Holy Cross/NCC was the regional final game. HC/OC played in round two.

Congrats to WV on the win and on a fine season!

The only thing wrong with that thinking is that with our present schedule only four of our ten games are Region 2, 2-A games, the other six are the same competition we would be facing were we independent, and against that schedule we are doomed to be 1-5.

The Walton game last night was an independent contest, as well as the Scott game next Friday night. Perhaps putting a couple of winnable games at the end of the schedule would have provided some motivation to slug through the district schedule and then perhaps play a pair of competitive games giving us a bit of momentum heading into the off-season, instead of an additional two-game death sentence.

The Mustangs failed to capitalize on the games with Bracken County (1 point loss) and Pendleton County (their only win), and were dealt Walton-Verona and Scott as our remaining independents sealing our fate for 2012.

I'm not convinced that continuing to water down our schedule is the answer, as that will only be used as a crutch and we will never have the motivation to get better. I do believe that this unit has the potential to improve somewhat (or hopefully dramatically) in 2013. There are a lot of returning veterans, and some of our key freshmen who we have counted on this year will be experienced sophomores. I do not sense an overwhelming feeling of frustration, shame, or despair among our ranks. I think our kids accept their fate, practice hard for a week and then go play the next game on the schedule that Friday night and let the chips fall. I think that after next Friday night's encounter with Scott (that I really don't understand, other than that we share the same home field) I think that they will be ready to move on to something else. The key is having them all come back next year, which I see happening.

At present we have only one direction to go and that is up, but we need to make sure that we do move in that direction, or we have bigger problems than just playing a 2-A four game schedule.

Why? Is there a connection between the two?

Mustang, is there going to be a head coaching change for next year, or should there be one? And what is your opinion of the coaching staff? I'm not trying to get you into any hot water with asking the question, but respect your opinion and support of the Brossart program and we all know you tell it how you see it. :thumb:

I thought that this game would end up being a rivalry game. Both programs began varsity football the same year (i believe). The first year Coach Barth took over at Walton this was a very intense game with Brossart winning. Since then it seems the two teams have gone in different directions, or at least the Walton program has progressed considerably. Congrats Bearcats, keep it rolling!

Based on student population, Brossart needs to be back in 1A, where they should be after the next re-alignment.

That will at least allow them to compete in the district a little better (aside from Beechwood).

The program has a tremendous amount of potential, it needs to be harnessed and nurtured.....

Brossart lost the best Strength & Conditioning coach in NKY a couple of years ago when he left to open a private business....:sssh:

They haven't been the same since.

Great job at Walton, I hope they can make a playoff run into December!!

WV v Newport will be a really good first-round game.

You can't base it on student Population, you need to get the kids out, I bet they don;t have 30 kids in the program. NCC has maybe 60 and they are about the same size of School, next re-alignment Brossart and NCC might be in 1A.
