I believe Scott did sub all five guys out with three minutes to go in the Newcath game. In fact, in every game they played this summer, all kids were subbed in and out every five minutes with the only exception being the one I just described. Should be a good season for freshman basketball this winter. Looks like quite a few teams will have nice groups of kids to work with. Simon Kenton will have loads of talent and depth to play with from what I saw yesterday.

Great hire by the Cooper admin. Jeremy's been one of the most successful freshman coaches in the area the last 7-8 years. He's not only old school, but has a great baseball mind. Best of luck, Coach!

For the record, today is the first day I've ever heard this young man's name, therefore I know nothing about him. With that said, maybe the structure of Covington Catholic will be good for him, if he in fact has had attitude issues. Coach Rowe doesn't play games and the student/athletes at CovCath have always represented their school/families/community incredibly well. I agree with Trogan1, we should give him a chance. It's amazing what discipline does for young people and no one is better at that than Bob Rowe.

I wonder why he made the move back to NKY? I believe he's from here, but he's bounced around so much the last four-five years that if I were the Grant admin, I would be skeptical. Hopefully he's not at Grant for a year or two and then moves on, as he's done since he began coaching High School ball. Programs (and kids) need stability, which is why the schools with loyal coaches win more than the programs with transient coaches. Maybe my story is wrong and he was forced to leave the recent programs he's been at, but I know how he left Ryle and it was flat out wrong.

Scott has hosted this league for the last six years.

I really liked what I saw from this young man. He seems to play the game the proper way and can put the ball in the basket. Should have a tremendous career.

Best of luck to Coach Beiger wherever he lands. He's an incredible baseball coach and has done so much for kids in this area. However, it's obvious that his style wore out his welcome in Union. It's no secret the school has had to hand him suspensions, etc. but at the end of the day, he was going to do it his way. I admire Bob's passion for the game and am certain those kids will rally around him this week.

Congrats to BW on the win and to Scott for a great year. I wish I could have made it out for this one. Jake Ohmer is an exceptional athlete and has an incredible future ahead of him. On top of that he's an even better kid. A true competitor.

This!! Some people are just die hard and loyal. They sound like amazing people to me. My condolences to his wife and their family.

I'll bite. Just remember, you asked me why I would get out of dodge. I like Erik, but I really liked Michael Miller (not related). Suzy Wera is the first reason. I'm not a fan of her manipulating and back stabbing. I'm sure she has her supporters, but I'm not one of them. I also wonder about the commitment kids at Beechwood have to the basketball program. Everyone loves the football team and for really good reasons. Small schools have to share athletes, but at Beechwood it seems that the kids who play multiple sports have basketball as their least committed activity. It's no one's fault, but it's the way it is. Kids who play football and basketball have a better shot at winning state in football, thus their focus is stronger on football. Again, you can't blame them, but it puts the basketball coach in a tough position. I know it may appear that I have an agenda here, but I don't. We all have our opinions, those just happen to be mine. I'm in no way in favor of how the Michael Miller situation was handled. If I'm an experienced varsity coach - I don't go there. However it appears Erik doesn't have much of a choice at this point, which is tough for him.

Then one could only assume the Barleycorn's outing was of a celebratory nature?

Really? More steps? I should remind Ben Zimmerman, Suzy Wera and Dr. Hutton that this is the Beechwood basketball job. Not football, not baseball, but basketball. Personally, if I were Erik Goetz, I would get the heck out of dodge.

I'm glad Steven is staying at Dixie. No doubt the best thing for the both of them.
