  1. I think Kentucky kids get plenty of out of state attention. That being said, I have heard and been told first hand that Kentucky kids stay home more often than not, and that probably does affect recruiting of mid/low D1 impact kids. All in all, the measure-sables and grades win out IMO.
  2. Mean to disrespect to Starks kid, but just not big enough for next level in basketball. Former Mr. Kentucky Basketball Carson Williams had a good career at similar size, but never dominated. Hes now trying the transition to football at WKU for the NFL combine. IN COLLEGE. Bottom line is simple math to me. College basketball teams have 12-15 players. Football has 75? Try it now young fella, the world is your oyster with that size......... https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/nfl-draft-wku-big-man-plans-to-be-the-next-college-hoops-to-te-conversion-122725146.html
  3. Dude, you are so wrong on this. What schools? The % of kids who lands offers that early is so small in football. COVID absolutely decimated this class if you were a mid/low D1 level prospect. Those kids are encouraged to go to the schools camp for first hand evaluations. Can offers come without that? Sure. But most assuredly not just from film. I have seen the most bizarre requests this year. No mention of grades, but how big are hands, and exact measurements please. Don’t care what position you are now, we want you for “x”. No film to study there is there? Lol. Point is this year our entire world was thrown off its axis. Can’t blame any kid, and I know plenty in NKY, who would benefit from coming back and doing just that. Plus, who wouldn’t want to relive being 17/18? Agree to disagree on this one bud.
  4. Laundry list? No. But finding a spot that is full ride on a team that he can compete, after NCAA 5th and 6th yr kids graduate? Absolutely. and this isn’t just about him. It’s about every kid at every school who is facing these numbers issues. Is what it is. Numbers.
  5. Gotta keep in mind that not only were there no camps to audition last summer, but also that the NCAA already granted extra year eligibility to their players. Doesnt matter how much tape you have to show, its Simple math. Less scholarships available which meant a Mr. Kentucky football ends up a PWO. How is that fair to him, or any one these talented mid/low D1 talents settling for PWO and NAIA scholarships? Rolls downhill folks. If ya didnt see this coming, youve been sleeping the last year...... Just my opinion.
  6. The one foul in the back, which WASNT called intentional BTW, absolutely was wrong. That’s how kids get hurt. The one Hergott elevated, made a play on the ball as Meyer tried unsuccessfully to dunk it, no way that was intentional. Good, old school basketball play. After seeing Hergott with that passion, puzzled why he wasn’t on floor more last night. HC was absolutely better team. BW had no answer under the boards, and no one could step in and help Draud. Key for me was when HC heartbeat/pulse of team Jeremiah Hicks picked up his 3rd foul. BW not once tried to take it at him and force him to get his 4th. Played most of 2nd half with no one taking it at him. I was blown away. Allowing him to stay on the floor was death blow for BW. Exposed how big a loss Rylee transferring was IMO. McClendon/Meyer best guard combo I’ve seen in long time. Foul shots. It’s an epidemic at this point folks both teams couldn’t hit consistently, and I’ve seen that in almost every game I’ve watched in recent years. Need less time practicing Euro-steps and more time on charity stripe. All I know is this. It was great to be back in a gym watching games thank you to 35th district and Holmes staff for allowing that to happen ??
  7. Great recap b-ball-fan. Also great game to watch/listen to. 859sportsradio/Mark Wehry did a great job as usual. Got even better with the guest pairing of Terry Niehaus from HC Sports Radio sitting in. Thanks guys! Big key of game to me was HC Dylan Arlinghaus in foul trouble whole game. Haven’t seen final stats, but felt like HC just couldn’t establish real control on the boards. Hicks needs help down low. If he gets that, this team will make a deep run. But if NCC could hit foul shots, this game was about 10 pts IMO. Good luck to both wrapping up season heading into Districts.
  8. FYI. Transfer rules state 1 calendar year from actual date of last Varsity competition in that Varsity sport. I know, we just lived it in 2019. With the KHSAA rule changes that took effect in 2019 though, you CAN play Varsity in other sports. I know a lot of people magically get around this, but we didn’t. Just giving one perspective. ?
  9. My first thought was maybe he read through all the BGP posts and said whoa Nelly! Either way Highlands should be happy this happened now. Still plenty of time to find a good coach and keep program on annual calendar (off season and such).
  10. To me, yes. Just don’t think BW can or should be above them until the QB situation is solidified, and we see a few games. That said, as evidenced in the title game, there are many contributors on the team that can and will offset the loss of Cam. BW will be tough to beat, especially score on. That Defense held LCA last year, and Cam had nothing to do with that. ?
  11. You cannot replace a Cam Hergott. We all know this. But based on what I’ve seen from quite a few Tigers already this off season, they will be just fine. Won the State title then were right back in weight room and working out. Next man up comes into play here IMO. While a bit undersized now, Freshman QB S. Sowder played great, and is RT/DT L. Slusher’s cousin. Most likely won’t be 6’5 285 like Luke, but there is Potential for growth and kid can play, so cupboard is not bare. Unfortunate COVId struck and Freshman didn’t get JV exposure due to restrictions, but that is a level playing field for all teams IMO.
  12. To entertain your thought that I am insinuating that we won’t miss Cam is not even worthy to type. A kid like Cam is irreplaceable, and goes without saying. But not surprised someone on here tries to twist words....... ?‍♂️
  13. All this focus on QB is understandable, but mis-guided. IMO, Only issue Beechwood will have next year is replacing Henry Nachazel on the line. Great kid and player. After returning Junior Luke Slusher (6’5” 280), no one breaks 6’ tall and while they play their heart out and great as a unit, still need beef to go against the big boys. Need some off season work upfront from the underclass men to protect WHOEVER succeeds Hergott and repeat. Coach B can work wonders no doubt, but kids gotta put time in weight room like Slusher did last year. I have no doubt they will, but make no mistake this year was won in the trenches. If those kids don’t band together and do what they did, Friday night does not happen, period. And BTW, Freshman QB Sowder had a very good year so cupboard is not bare by any means........ ?
  14. While in my humble opinion this thread is completely premature, I’ll chime in. Bottom line, CCH will be just fine Blue Bloods. Calm down. Recognize that the Mayer family put the program on tilt last few years and while back to reality now, you still have one of KYs best programs. Young names to watch for me are Leen and Pitzer. As far as the older/returning kids, Sullivan will be key to lead. Also gotta give Hummel the reps he deserves. Kid is best pound for pound player in NKY his entire life IMO.
  15. And all are my family. ?. Luke is #51 for BW. RT and NT. Yes, Brandon is the Trainer for the team and Asst AD. But his brother Brady (BW Alum and former UC Bearcat and EKU Colonel) is Luke’s off season guru responsible for his transformation from TE to Tackle. Add his influence to what Coach Barnett at BW does during in season and you got the finished product on Friday nights. Anyways, All I was trying to clear up earlier. Enjoy this week everyone. Love seeing the kids get to experience this. Two great teams and programs. I can’t imagine NOT wanting to watch this on Friday. I can’t wait. Stay safe everyone and See you at Kroger field. GO TIGERS!!!
  16. Strong schedule IMO. Look for another great year from this team. Looking forward to watching this group and their progression next year. ??
  17. Great post, love it. But gotta clear up something. It’s Luke Slusher, not Brady. BW Alum Brady is his cousin and trainer and reason for the transformation from a 215lb Kid in Jan 2019, to a 280lb RT blocking for Kentucky’s Mr Football 8 months later. Brady is the man no doubt, and Luke is doing his best to live up to Mr Miyagis teachings and if I do say so myself, he is doing just fine........ GOTIGERS! ?
  18. Just looking at Google maps this field looks like a mud bogging pit. Will the Beechies need to adjust? Yes. But still taking our boys. You can call in all the fire trucks from all surrounding counties. Won’t matter. You got a Slusher anchoring Beechwoods line, with Bell County blood running through his veins. He says Bring it. Lol All kidding aside, good luck to both teams. Great honor being this far and KSR game of the week. Enjoy the stage kids!
  19. Huge night for Kentucky’s Mr Football. You cannot deny how good he is on a field. Can score on any play, from anywhere. Yet he still isn’t a front runner It’s a criminal at this point Also Huge night for the O-line. This was BW’s big question mark coming this season. Liking Beechwoods chances for two more. Go Tigers!
  20. I’m pulling hard for Dixie. As for the line, gonna be a tough test, but they do have pancake machine Evan Wibberly at Tackle. They have talent on line. As for Dixie “dominating” Beechwood, someone been hitting the spiked egg nog too much. Lol. Great team, not afraid of anyone from what I’ve seen. What’s the old saying? You wanna be the best you gotta beat the best? In the year of COVID where any day your season could, I’d love this chance as a player. Knowing some of those kids, I’m sure they do too.
  21. In part, yes. In part, We should be very upset at our leadership. For example, Ohio is wrapping up playoffs. We have year to begin. Adults need to make decisions, not delay and avoid making them continuously. Just my two cents. Praying we can finish this crazy year. ?‍♂️
  22. You can’t expect kids to improve in areas they cannot control, which is size. BW is very small upfront. Take Slusher out (6’5” 280 lbs), and Nachazel at 240 (?) is biggest lineman. Do they have room to get better, yes. But give some credit where credit is due. Whole unit has really stepped up game IMO.
  23. I can tell you from watching him that the majority of the time, the penalty happens away from ball, other side of field, etc. Penalties that have zero impact on play. Discipline issues on special teams. Just my two cents from watching in person.
  24. This Beechwood team is Loaded. And all I read on here early this year was worry about line. How bout them boys in the trenches? Seems to be a non issue now that playing 5A/6A Teams is over. I’m feeling a big run, COVID allowing for course.
