  1. Coach Britt has done a great job there. Western has always had the dudes. Just needed the right coach. And Coach Schooler’s lack of coaching at Fern Creek might have finally worn itself out. You can have all the talent in the world. But if you don’t guide it, or know how, it turns on you.
  2. For sure. Size and skill is intriguing. I don’t really pay attention to rankings or stars or any of that stuff. I do always look at who else is recruiting them. Generally gives you a good idea about what type of player they currently are.
  3. The Gaudio one was somewhat expected. He was always temporary. Murray is odd. Something happened. He’s well know as a young up and comer, and being mentioned for several small D1 jobs. He’s also a Xavier holdover, that Mack has often gone out of his way to speak positively about.
  4. I mean. I got the joke. At this point, it’s either laugh or cry. On a positive note, we beat out Elon, Old Dominion, and George Washington for a recruit today. (I hope the sarcasm is caught). UC basketball at this point feels like UL football when Steve Kragthorpe was coaching.
  5. I really do feel bad for Conley and Whitlock. Great kids. Nice players. They got unreasonable expectations put on them by a lot of adults. There wasn’t really a supporting cast around them, ever. Yes, losing Mabry hurt too. But it’s not like they ever went further with him. A lack of depth caused them to wear down towards the end of every season. And realistically, Gaither and Collins have pretty much owned them.
  6. Well. He might coach basketball better than Brannen.....
  7. Sorry. If it has, I didn’t see it. I do remember someone posting the stats. Not sure there was any discussion
  8. https://www.nationofblue.com/correction-king-kellys-place-in-rebounding-history-is-still-safe/
  9. The game was apparently rewatched twice with stats recorded, and he had “only” 31 rebounds. Which obviously is still a massive feat. Wireman had posted the story.
  10. I completely agree with you. They aren’t paying that buyout. His entire 2020 class leaving definitely doesn’t help with the optics though..
  11. There is allegedly some cause that’s about to be exposed.
  12. Considering that Georgetown is the best of the four teams you mentioned, he couldn’t play at any of them. He’ll end up at another D1 school. Then transfer again. Streaky shooter. But he has zero interest in even pretending to guard someone.
  13. I really think this was the best season so far. Huge fan of the entire series.
  14. Every coach at every job has a trajectory. Next year will prove if this was an anomaly for Calipari. Or if it’s the new normal. It obviously won’t last long. The pandemic is overplayed, but still a valid excuse. Not having an off-season killed them. He’s used to having the new recruits on campus in June so they can live in the gym all summer. But, the recruiting landscape landscape has changed too. He’s not just recruiting against the blue bloods anymore. Now he’s recruiting against the G-League, and the blue bloods. It feels like he’s going for a blend in upperclassman transfers, and pulling some true freshman. Could be the right mix.
  15. So is Ben Johnson... and I’d say right now, it’s probably his to lose. But there are legitimately 4-5 dudes that can win. I still really hate that they give it out before the Sweet 16.
  16. Fletcher has officially entered the portal. Not a shock to anyone I’m sure.
  17. I think you missed my point. I don’t care where anyone lives or where they want to go to school. I was just asking why he was ruled ineligible in WV. Just general curiosity. They have a group of people there that bring guys into the country every year.
  18. The pictures I’ve seen of him next to the teams they’re playing are hilarious. He is huge. He had to move to Belfry because he was ineligible in West Virginia. Anyone know why? West Virginia has a ton of African kids, so it’s not like they didn’t know what documentation was needed.
  19. He got a really bad concussion in early January that caused him to miss the rest of the season.
  20. It really is crazy to see that. This has to be an anomaly of a year for them. They’ve at least been middle of the pack for awhile. But anyone from the Louisville area understands what changed. Certain housing developments were torn down. Also, in the 90s, they had “magnet programs”. Now it’s wide open enrollment. Kids just aren’t pulled to Fairdale anymore. And the older guys just lean on the 90s glory instead of trying to change the perceptions.
  21. Bad weekend for a North Laurel team that only had one “quality” win (Cov Cath) coming into the weekend. So was Cov Cath the anomaly? Or have they now been figured out? Shepherd will get his. But if he has a bad game, who steps up?
  22. Ashland was just way too balanced for N Laurel. Good game plan. Let Shepherd do what he wants, guard everyone else. He had 10 turnovers to 5 assists.
