North Laurel/Ashland Predictions/Updates
HoopJunkie replied to The Professor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I predict gaudy stats from a couple of 2-3 zone titans.... -
Covington Catholic 71 Ashland Blazer 62
HoopJunkie replied to addout's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Just for fun, I thought I’d look at the stats on KHSAA for this game. Ashland attempted 28 3s. Cov Cath attempted 8. That could have a lot to do with the difference in free throw attempts. Not saying the refs weren’t a little whistle happy towards Ashland. But when one team takes the majority of their shots from the outside, and the other the inside. Inside draws more fouls. -
Yep. Back in the comfortable confines of the 16th....

Lyon County 86 Crittenden County 56
HoopJunkie replied to B-Ball-fan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not saying he does, or doesn’t have 2 D1 offers. But there’s nothing on Verbal Commits for him. And there’s nothing for him under either of those schools where the recruits are listed by class. He’s only a freshman, there’s plenty of time. -

Nothing wrong with free college. -
I hope it works. But it most likely won’t. The first couple games will have good attendance because people will want to see the old UL and UK players that didn’t make it in the league. Then they’ll realize that it’s a glorified men’s league and quit going. I give it 2 seasons at best. Not trying to sound negative. But it’s happened numerous times. Why would now be any different?

This is his 3rd year on the varsity roster. His dad is the head coach. He averaged 20 as a 7th grader. 2000 points is an enormous accomplishment for anyone, anywhere. Curious to see him against some bigger schools than they have played on their schedule. -
Hahaha. Voice of an angel. But basketball wise.. It’s not always a fit. He came to Kentucky as someone that was probably a late first round pick last year, looking to improve his position and slide into the lottery. But for whatever all those mock drafts are worth, none have him in either round. He’s a six figure guy overseas.

The hot talk has been Mintz coming back for what would be year 6. Sarr could come back if he wants to. But I really think he’ll go be a highly paid European pro. He’d be a rockstar in France.

Ray Valentine steps down as Berea Coach
HoopJunkie replied to All State Baseball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
For me, it’s always depended on the context. Was it a point of emphasis? Or did it cross into degradation? That line can be narrow. But when it’s crossed, things go badly. -
DeSales 75 Fern Creek 57

With Rogers, this might be closer. But DeSales still wins. -

5 games... Quite a tenure. -
Bowling Green 83 Ashland 57
HoopJunkie replied to Purple88's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This wouldn’t have been close no matter which team drove to play the other. Ashland is one dimensional. Live by the 3, die by the 3. BG is balanced. -
Boyle County 60 Spencer County 52
HoopJunkie replied to Rebelstat's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Conley for Spencer is out a few weeks with a broken wrist. But Spencer’s lack of depth will be their Achilles heel again this season. -
He would be a great hire. And if I’m not mistaken, his youngest is graduating from Desales this year. So he’ll be ready to get back in the head coach seat.

Not sure if she moved. If she did, he should be cleared. -
KHSAA Transfer Portal List

Maze runs the program. There’s definitely enough here to call foul. But James hasn’t had an easy run. If his mom wants him out of Louisville, he should be ruled eligible. Marion offers much less on the exposure scale than Eastern. -

They’ll appeal and most likely get it through. Going on the grounds of “life in Louisville”. And his hasn’t been easy. -
Region 6 - Top Returning Performers
HoopJunkie replied to KeepItRealYo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Remains to be seen if any of those kids will actually be eligible to play. I know social media is just noise. But there’s a lot of noise surrounding that program. -
High school seniors
HoopJunkie replied to The Flea Market's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
You can graduate at semester break, and enroll in college. But the transition physically would be a very difficult one. There aren’t many high school players that could step on a college court in January and contribute. This happens in football regularly. But it’s just so they can start spring practice. -
Schools already putting season on delay
HoopJunkie replied to Yadi1957's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I honestly think the KHSAA is going to keep delaying until Beshear steps in and makes the unpopular call. KHSAA already takes enough heat. They don’t want to be the perceived bad guy.
