Robby Todd, junior to be has transferred from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to Rowan County. Todd was in the Bulldogs 7-8 man rotation last year as a sophomore and will be a nice addition to the Vikings the next two seasons. Todd is the son of current Morehead State womens coach, Greg Todd.

He was the 7th or 8th man but Dunbar was a little thin had some players quite or was dismissed from the team. Probably only averaged around 3 points or so.

“Young for his class” is new and refreshing. But “points per minute”? That’s a new stat in high school basketball.

He was the most productive of their big men and played less. That is the way things are in Lexington though. Robbie Todd produced more per minute he played than ANY of their other post players. .....

Recapping today’s actions, state champion winning coach Scott Chalk has changed his approach and has decided to not play to win in his latter part of career by not playing the best players but playing the sub par to the reserves.

 

A lot of ould’s in this thread, he could be a different class, he should be on the court more, he would produce more than the other kids who are on the court if he got the chance.

 

I don’t know Robby, however at all levels of basketball breaking down a point per minute production is the most unrealistic stat in the game. There is a reason certain ones play more than others and a lot of time that production comes against other reserves not other starters and it is a lot easier to get more production per minute in a smaller sample size, i.e. less minutes.

 

I can’t believe that Scott Chalk has decided to play not to win anymore, unfathomable it is hard to fathom.

Agreed. As I stated I haven't seen Todd play personally but a couple people have told me he will be a huge addition to the Vikings and will be one of the top players in the paint in the 16th region the next couple of seasons.

I watched PLD play 6 or 7 times last season. Here is my take going into the season PLD had by far the tallest team in the region 4 or 5 guys 6'4 or 6'5 and taller. Through mid January their record was 5-15. Then coach Chalk switched to playing the 5 best athletes and also the team chemistry and the remainder of the season they were 8-3 with one one of those wins at regional champion Scott Co. by 14 points in the last game of the regular season.

My son’s team played Dunbar 3 times this year. I think this kid will be a very good player. Has good size and shoots it well. Dunbar had a plethora of bigs. Todd looked like he could play with any of them and was only a sophomore.

He shot 37% from the floor, 57% from the foul line, averaged 2.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Played in 30 games. Nine other Dunbar players shot better than 37% from the floor. Dunbar had 2 seniors, no juniors, 9 sophomores and 3 freshmen on their roster.

All I have to go by is the numbers because I didn't see Dunbar play. Hall clearly was the best sophomore, and the best player on the team. After Hall, statistically there were 2 or 3 other sophomores as or more productive than Todd. That is just going by the stats.
