  1. I heard a rumor of a couple of Bullitt East kids enrolling at Spencer. Not sure who. Or if it’s true.
  2. Is this finally the year Spencer County becomes relevant? Can’t call them the “young bears” anymore.
  3. No. I said they played a middle school schedule. Harsh? Yes. Obviously they didn’t. But the only fair word to describe it was “weak”. They have a lot of talent. They’ll walk through the 16th again. Hopefully they get to play. Hopefully they all do. And hopefully we have a postseason. I don’t have a kid playing. Or a favorite team. I just go to a lot of games. Eyes are better than stats.
  4. I didn’t say they were weak. I said their schedule is weak. Which it was. Your “14% of district winners” stat is also very Skip Baseless. This season the schedule looks better. Wish they had accepted the KOB invite instead of choosing to play a tournament in Pikeville against teams already on their schedule. But still. They have some good opponents early. Mayes has the fan base excited, obviously.
  5. I was clearly talking about their schedule from last season. It was weak at best. Having Male and Cov Cath early this season will be a great test. But ducking the KOB isn’t a great look.
  6. They basically played a middle school schedule last year. Undefeated is a huge accomplishment, but I think ETown was primed to end that streak. They do play Male early this season. Even with the players Male lost, that should still be a huge test for Ashland. I could be completely wrong, but I’m pretty sure they had an opportunity to play in the KOB this season, but declined. If you want to be considered the best, you have to be willing to play anyone anytime.
  7. Still a lot of depth from last year. Along with a lot of great athletes that fit Haworth’s system. Male could be one of those teams that loses a couple games early, then runs to Rupp
  8. 1. Ballard (by a mile) 2. Cov Cath 3. Male 4. ETown 5. Ashland (I’m still not a buyer.)
  9. He should be fired. The slur was too casual. The apology was even worse.
  10. What about the feature from the old site “go to first unread” on individual topics? Am I missing something?
  11. KOB tweeted that Fern Creek was invited, but they’re playing in Florida instead.
  12. Hence the “unless something changed” part of my post. I know that 6 years ago, it was that way.
  13. Unless something changed in the last 3 years, Nelson County schools aren’t open enrollment. So you go to school in the district you live in. I’m not saying people don’t move for a specific school. Or use addresses in a certain district. It definitely happens. But that’s the limitation. I can’t live near Bardstown or Thomas Nelson, and choose to go to Nelson County.
  14. Yeah. I don’t think anyone has questioned legitimacy. I think the bigger question has been “why is this news?”.
  15. I don’t know the kid. But if he has good size, and skill, he should put up some good numbers this season. The drop in competition level is pretty drastic.
  16. “Young for his class” is new and refreshing. But “points per minute”? That’s a new stat in high school basketball.
  17. I can see some names coming after this one. Jason Couch, Richard Gatewood, and a few assistants that I don’t want to mention because their bosses might not know.
  18. Male is definitely loaded. But I don’t think the gap is as large as you do. Manual has some good young kids coming back. Coach Coleman’s last 2 jobs were considered awful when he took them. He’s notorious for getting the most out of his kids. Seneca wasn’t on anyone’s radar last year. Now they’ll be a preseason top 10 team. That’s not an accident.
  19. Seneca returns a lot. But they’ll have 12 seniors. So it’ll be a rebuild after next season. As far as schools go, you’re going from one that’s crumbling, to the best public school in the state of Kentucky. Manual has a lot of prestige. It’s also easier to get kids into Manual than it is Male, or some other schools that are in the “traditional” program.
  20. Boys job is open. I know 2 people that got a call about it.
  21. Sullivan is in Louisville. They were always in the mix for championships. A lot of great players went through there. In the late 90s, they announced that they were going “4 year”, but then never brought basketball, or any sport back.
