Male 112 Brown 35 (26th District)

Featured Replies

112 is a lot of points Coach.

Really glad Male decided to hold back. On another note, great quote from Lou Holtz playing Bobby Bowden once. Bowden ran the score up. Then told Holtz “it’s not my job to keep me from scoring”

It’s the post-season. We really talking about running up scores?

Yes. Because Male scoring 112 points on Brown is unconscionable.

This isn't Little League.

When we see scores like this in football, we get 4 threads of ranting. Blowouts are ok in all other sports?

In fact, in football playoff season we would already have 2 threads of ranting about should Brown show up, why are these teams in the playoffs, reduce the number of playoff teams, etc.

Blowouts are okay in every sport.

Brown lost to Waggener by 50 last week. Waggener lost to Male by 28.

It is what it is. Blowouts happen, especially when one of the state's top teams goes up against one of the state's bottom teams.

I do not know what protocol is for basketball, but I have always been of the opinion that while the score may look better to those who didn't watch the game, for those participating, having a team get up by a sizeable margin and just play keep away for an entire half is more demoralizing. Same for football. If I were playing a team, I would find it more offensive if the overpowering team got the ball, took three knees and punted. Now I am not saying teams should be pressing (or throwing it deep or running trick plays in football), but laying over by the subs should never be an alternative.

With all due respect to Brown, it probably does not have a player who could make most teams in the 7th region much less start for one.

Agree completely.

14 players scored for Male - three were freshmen not named Kaleb Glenn and a senior who doesn't see a lot of PT hit double digits.

If there was taunting, or if it was a dunk-fest, yeah that's wrong. Nothing I've seen out in the ether suggests this to be true.

This may be the best Male team since the Griffith and Turner era and the Bulldogs haven't won a Sweet 16 in 45 years. If I'm Male, I keep the engine primed; Ballard is still Ballard.

Apples to ... another kind of apple? The Bullitt East girls broke a Benji on Fern Creek Monday night. The margin? 79 points.

And this was just 77 points. So there's a difference? Neither are correct. What if your son or daughter were on the losing end?
