Region 8 - Top Returning Performers

Recommended Posts

Look for Ben Michel of South Oldham to have a breakout year. 6'6 with solid ball handling and the ability to score from all areas on the court. Should see a lot more production out of Ben with Luke Morrison and Seth Johnson gone.

Is this finally the year Spencer County becomes relevant? Can’t call them the “young bears” anymore.

Jagger Gillis is enrolled at Boyle County.  I'm sure it will be detrimental to Anderson County on the hardwood like it's been on the gridiron.

One of the old "young bears", Gage Mabry, is now enrolled at Jeffersontown.

I heard a rumor of a couple of Bullitt East kids enrolling at Spencer. Not sure who. Or if it’s true.

A name that is seemingly being overlooked in the preseason chatter I've heard has been Tyler Slone of Oldham County.   Probably averages over 20 ppg on just about any other team.    Tremendous shooting touch, and solid rebounder.   Has already signed to play college ball, so that pressure is out of the way.    I look for him to have a huge year.

Sam Conley, Kelly Niece and Deaton Oak are perhaps your early favorites for the POY(?)

Unlike the last couple of years - where there were 1 or 2 players who really stood out - this year looks to be a wide-open battle.   There's a number of talented young men across the region who could challenge those three.    Could be a very crowded field before all is said and done!
