Nothing wrong with free college.

This is his 3rd year on the varsity roster. His dad is the head coach. He averaged 20 as a 7th grader. 2000 points is an enormous accomplishment for anyone, anywhere. Curious to see him against some bigger schools than they have played on their schedule.

For me, it’s always depended on the context. Was it a point of emphasis? Or did it cross into degradation? That line can be narrow. But when it’s crossed, things go badly.

With Rogers, this might be closer. But DeSales still wins.

5 games... Quite a tenure.

This wouldn’t have been close no matter which team drove to play the other. Ashland is one dimensional. Live by the 3, die by the 3. BG is balanced.

Conley for Spencer is out a few weeks with a broken wrist. But Spencer’s lack of depth will be their Achilles heel again this season.

He would be a great hire. And if I’m not mistaken, his youngest is graduating from Desales this year. So he’ll be ready to get back in the head coach seat.

Yes. All fall and winter NCAA and NAIA athletes aren’t charged any eligibility this year.

Remains to be seen if any of those kids will actually be eligible to play. I know social media is just noise. But there’s a lot of noise surrounding that program.

You can graduate at semester break, and enroll in college. But the transition physically would be a very difficult one. There aren’t many high school players that could step on a college court in January and contribute. This happens in football regularly. But it’s just so they can start spring practice.

Brandon definitely runs their Twitter account. Nate Bryan had a lot of interesting Twitter interactions with him the last couple of days.

There is literally zero chance this ends well.

I honestly think the KHSAA is going to keep delaying until Beshear steps in and makes the unpopular call. KHSAA already takes enough heat. They don’t want to be the perceived bad guy.

I heard a rumor of a couple of Bullitt East kids enrolling at Spencer. Not sure who. Or if it’s true.

Is this finally the year Spencer County becomes relevant? Can’t call them the “young bears” anymore.

No. I said they played a middle school schedule. Harsh? Yes. Obviously they didn’t. But the only fair word to describe it was “weak”. They have a lot of talent. They’ll walk through the 16th again. Hopefully they get to play. Hopefully they all do. And hopefully we have a postseason. I don’t have a kid playing. Or a favorite team. I just go to a lot of games. Eyes are better than stats.

I didn’t say they were weak. I said their schedule is weak. Which it was. Your “14% of district winners” stat is also very Skip Baseless. This season the schedule looks better. Wish they had accepted the KOB invite instead of choosing to play a tournament in Pikeville against teams already on their schedule. But still. They have some good opponents early. Mayes has the fan base excited, obviously.

So you think all regions are created equally?

I was clearly talking about their schedule from last season. It was weak at best. Having Male and Cov Cath early this season will be a great test. But ducking the KOB isn’t a great look.

They basically played a middle school schedule last year. Undefeated is a huge accomplishment, but I think ETown was primed to end that streak. They do play Male early this season. Even with the players Male lost, that should still be a huge test for Ashland. I could be completely wrong, but I’m pretty sure they had an opportunity to play in the KOB this season, but declined. If you want to be considered the best, you have to be willing to play anyone anytime.

Still a lot of depth from last year. Along with a lot of great athletes that fit Haworth’s system. Male could be one of those teams that loses a couple games early, then runs to Rupp

1. Ballard (by a mile) 2. Cov Cath 3. Male 4. ETown 5. Ashland (I’m still not a buyer.)
