In what way would an official have more knowledge than a Trainer to diagnose a concussion? To me this would end up being alot of CYA and kids getting diagnosed more often.

I'm not sure where the notion is that they weren't "ready" for playoffs is coming from either. It's not like Raceland came down and just smacked them either. Final score of the game was 14-22, and if I remember correctly it came down to the very end. So its not as if they had not business being in the playoffs. They also beat Nicholas who nearly ended up beating Fairview.

Berea was a young team last year. The question with Berea is numbers. What does Berea have coming in as a freshman class? Will they be able to have more than 20 kids?

Do some research on the combines before you go. Many combines are run by 3rd party members and college coaches are not allowed to attend. Don't waste money on a combine if coaches won't be there because they will never get the results of that combine, nor do they want it. If they can't see the kid either on film or in person it doesnt matter. The numbers only count for so much.

Sophomore and Junior year is when they want film. Any earlier and they usually don't take it for much credit as most kids still are growing and developing until their sophomore and junior year. This is direct from the director of scouting at a Div 1 School.

If this kid is as good of a punter as advertised it won't matter if schools already have one. You take the best available player.

Here is the issue, football is the sport that is getting the attention for the concussion issues. We all on here understand that there are just as many risks as other sports especially soccer, but the light is shine on football because of the NFL. The NFL is a powerhouse for entertainment. MLS and even Premier league soccer does not have nearly the same following as the NFL so the media chooses not to focus on it as much. As long as football dominates the media it will be football that takes the burden of the concussion issue. Sadly with our society instead of investigating things on our own we just go with what we hear and so people hear football is bad for our kids heads and stop letting them play. And instead make them play soccer which leads the statistics for concussions. We need to educate ourselves better but the media doesn't profit off of education it profits off story lines. And the NFL makes better storylines than any other sport so football will continue to be under the microscope.

Is Coopers RB from this year graduating? If so is their next up as good or will Hendrix be the main offensive weapon next year? I ask because if the RB threat isn't as high I wonder if he will see more bracket coverage next year.

This kid is going to be dangerous next year. Its good to be a good WR but he seems to have a natural gift of reading the plays as a DB. He has good range, vision, and breaks on the ball well. Would love to see how he is in Bump-and-Run but thats not what Cooper runs. A DB with hands is a dangerous thing. Teams playing Cooper will have to worry heavily about him on both sides of the ball next year.

Youre not understanding what I mean by contested clearly. Contested means he has to fight a defender in the air for the ball. There were one or two but most of the time he just beats bad 1-1 coverage and catches the ball wide open in the middle of the field. I would like to see how he does against a physical corner who can play with him stride for stride is all. See how physical he is and how strong his hands are. I'm not taking away from him or trying to bash by any means just pointing out that there were not many of those types of plays in the highlights. Can he win against good coverage or even double coverage because he will see that at the next level.

I haven't seen the kid in person but a lot of those highlights to me show his ability to run with the ball. He looks like he would be a good return man especially punt return. But he is going to see A LOT better coverage in college than what was in that video. If I were him I would add some shots of him making some contested catches because as of now I'm not convinced how great his receiving ability actually is more just his ability to find creases in the short passing game. I'll give it to him that he is quick though.

There is a difference between being a good coach, and being a good human. I wouldnt want my kids to play for someone who can't practice what they preach.

The bill does state that the travel is the responsibility of the player, parent or guardian. Though they may ride with the team if it does not add to expenses. It also states they have to pay the same fees to play that any other student would. And lastly does state the student must provide grades in the same form that the public school would supply the team with. Not saying I agree with the bill but it seems that it addresses some of the concerns mentioned above.

I will play devils advocate here though. you mention highlands. The question becomes, is it the talent that is down and so the scheme doesn't work... or is there a better scheme that would fit the talent? That is a big part of coaching high school football. You are not always going to have players that fit the schemes you want many times you need to be able to fit your schemes to the talent. Coaching is a science and anyone who thinks otherwise has never done it. To be successful you need to be adaptable. Talent may change per say but is there a better way to utilize that talent to makes your team better.

I think it's less about injuries and more about people figuring out that offense. Their RB has been healthy for a couple of weeks, who carried them through the first few weeks. Teams figured out if you shut down the B and C gap it limits what Bellevue can do.

Final?

I would say the most annoying thing to me are the parents who are yelling at their own teams coach to get their little johnny the ball. Usually the coaches have a game plan, if your kid isnt on it there is a reason. Maybe he isnt as good as you want to believe. Or if he is talented then maybe there is just a better option this game.

This is one of the most bizarre stories released about a parent getting upset. Great point about how the kid even saw it. Second point is what is the mom doing on the field to get close to the news member? Third is, if the kid can't take the heat from being pointed out for a mistake that happened in the game.. maybe sports isn't for him. Either way just a strange scenario. Maybe we can put that guy on the "Coaching Bad" show on Spike.

This would be interesting to look at. Is this part of the "mental toughness" that is taught in football vs soccer? Or are they legitimate injuries? I played both during my time in high school, and soccer was something I did in the winter to stay in shape, but my friends that only played soccer would come off the field for "injuries" for things I would have played through. Either way it would an interesting thing to study.

I think the nice thing that is happening now though is that there are U-3 and U-4 flag football leagues beginning to pop up more and more. Its not exactly football but it introduces the kids to play design, catching, and throwing which is a great beginning. To me it's footballs way of trying to contend with the soccer leagues. My nephew just recently started playing in one, I'm hoping it will get him to love football enough to play for the school in pads soon.

I would agree. Brossart capitalized on the turnover and caused timely turnovers, as they did against Ludlow. Thats usually the makings of a good team. Its the teams that cant force turnovers, and the ones that do nothing with them when they do that struggle.
