I agree. It didn't make any sense. Now one team automatically ends up out of the playoffs. But maybe it was to make the districts themselves more competitive rather than one sided? It definitely doesn't seem to be logistics though.

The district is Brossart, Berea, Bracken, Paris and Nicholas.

For a 16 year old kid that size is astounding. His ability to read the field and his arm strength looks damn good. The only criticism I saw on his film is his footwork. Sometimes his drops were choppy or it was just a back pedal instead of drop steps but he always gets his feet set and makes the throw sound. The kid deserves what he is getting and at that age its pretty amazing.

Those who are worried about how many bags of ice this takes... im pretty sure most schools have their own ice machines nowadays..

I think its a great idea. The only downfall I ever see with it is that I know many kids who have already signed on to play at the next level usually either sit this one out or only step on for a series or so. Which I agree with, not worth risking the injury of a college career and financial aid for one last high school hoorah. But as many are saying its a great way for those who want to get on the field one last time with their buddies.

The college coaches look at as you can teach the game to someone who has the physical attributes. It doesn't exactly work the other way around. You can't teach physical attributes to someone who knows the game. All coaches believe in their teaching ability so they believe that no matter the level of player they can teach them. They just need to fit the size requirements. Speed on the other hand can somewhat be developed. Not fully but can be enhanced. So to me it all goes back to size requirements.

The new rules change for the year doesn't allow helmets to be worn during June and only after dead period are helmets allowed to be used.

As a coach this is completely ridiculous. How are players supposed to be "acclimated" to wearing helmets in such a short amount of time. The injury possibilities in June are one thing but what about the injury possibilities or being able to hit 2 weeks after we start wearing helmets for the first time and a player not comfortably able to move his head around on a swivel and getting clocked.

Has much been said yet whether they will still be playing those home games at Newport with the flooding?

There have been studies done recently looking at the NFL combine and which events there actually seem to correlate with success in the NFL. I hate to say it but the 40 was one of the only ones that actually seemed to have any relevance, at least for guys in skill positions, especially running backs. These studies are why the NFL is looking to change the events. 40 times are great for skill positions but for lineman they make no sense.

That looked better in the editor. HA DIV 1 has 249 schools offering FB- FBS allows 85 scholarships. FCS only 63. DIV 2 has 169 schools offering FB- allows 36 scholarships. DIV 3 has 245 schools offering FB- 0 scholarships allowed. NAIA has 89 Schools offering FB- 24 scholarships allowed. JC has 68 Schools offering FB- 85 scholarships allowed. CCCAA- has 70 schools offering FB- 0 scholarships allowed. That looks better.

Brackens team was rather young last year. I think they only had 1-2 seniors on the team overall. They should be returning most of their team. Their QB will be a junior this year I believe. It took them until midway through the season to start getting their offense clicking. They need to pick up where they left off in that aspect.

I know holmes is no longer in the district with Cov. Cath and Highlands but idk if they moved up or down.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Combines are run by 3rd party organizations. College coaches are not invited to these events. They may send GA scouts but actual coaches are not invited or able to attend. These events are strictly to get the numbers from the attendees and send them to the D-1 schools. If you can't land yourself in the top 100-50 people on these lists, the combines are not quite as useful. The one-day camps are much more useful as you put yourself directly in front of coaches. University of Cincinnati is a local school that usually has this event with multiple coaches from across divisions.

7v7 is also a good thing for when you have position battles early in the season. Matching your players up against competition brings out their true abilities. We've all had the kids that shine in practice but lose their head and ability in games. And for teams that are looking for a solid QB option this can be a huge developer. So they do have their benefits. You can't blame a 7v7 for poor skills learned, it's a coaches job to teach and correct.

It's looking like Berea is going to have a decision to make with Deondre Tate. Last year he had almost 1000 years receiving. But is also the only player on the team to take snaps at QB. To me it looks like for Berea to make a move in the right direction they need a supporting cast for Tate. One good thing is that it looks like much of their Offensive Line is coming back next year as well.

It has also been said that Bellevue may be cutting their Physical Education program from the school. This may have an effect on why he is leaving as well.
