Clyde Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Any teams using immersion to help the body cool down and to help muscle recovery? Why Immersion? - Polar Life Pod
Knights Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I think it would be easier to find teams that DON'T have some players taking ice bats after practice. Personally, I tried it once during my playing days and decided I'd rather be sore the next day.
4luvofthegame Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I know SK went from one tub to three this year and probably could use more.
GCHS Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 The problem is not the number of tubs, but the amount of ice it takes... If any more than a few are taking ice baths after practice, it is hard to have enough ice for bags, water coolers etc. lol I will say that ice baths definitely work on a number of levels.

Maybe they teams should just buy 3 feet deep kid pools and fill them up with ice.
Clyde Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 If a team has 50 to 60 kids how many bags of ice would a team need for each practice?
CoachJ Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 It's not a matter of getting enough BAGS of ice...you'd better have access to several ICE MACHINES. We use ice baths between sessions at our weekend-long camp (early August). Not every kid does it, but we encourage all to do so--especially if they're feeling soreness after day 1. Kiddie pools are a good way to go; got to be careful about sanitizing the water though -- luckily we do camp on a turf field so there's no dirt/mud in the ice baths.

I assume you mean machines that store the ice, correct?
CoachJ Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I assume you mean machines that store the ice, correct? Correct. It's a steady stream of filling up buckets and taking to troughs.
thehotsnakes Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 If a team has 50 to 60 kids how many bags of ice would a team need for each practice? It'd be well over 100. Pushing 200 on a hot day.
tcjkbt Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 If a team has 50 to 60 kids how many bags of ice would a team need for each practice? With this, the cost of equipment, etc., is football pricing itself out of the market?
rjs4470 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I discovered immersion playing in my states all star football game. 2 weeks of camp/practice in the middle of June, which got pretty physical, pretty quick. Used the ice baths almost every day, and I loved it.
