D-1 player born or made

Featured Replies

My question is. Is a D1 full schorlship played born or made with hard work? Are the phyiscal skill needed to play at that level. God given or made on the feild and in the weight room? I believe it's God given. Can not teach big/fast.

It's a combination.

It's a combination.

if that's the case. Why dont you ever see a 6'0 OL in D1?

Because he doesn't have the physical skills. It takes both.

If you are the best OL in your state. If your 6'0. You won't be playing D1 as an OL. No matter how good your are. Why is that??

High level BCS conference guys are born. As bad as a kid may want it, he can't make himself taller or significantly faster.

Why does height play into this so much? I think d1 is about what can be. It's easy to offer a huge kid with less back ground. Than a great player undersized.

Maybe as a guard, center or nose tackle. Seems like everybody wants a 6'5 kid.

No different than 6'3-6'4 post player in HS. He can dominate at that level but not at the D1 level

If it's not the case, Ever see a 6'5" 275 walking the street that did not play D1?

You are spot on. It's a meat market. If size/speed fits your in!

Sure. But you have to play to get an offer.

If your big. Play at an average level. I think you can get offers on size/speed alone.
