  1. Soccer and Cheerleading actually have a more highly occurring rate of concussions per participant than football, so yes its very hypocritical.
  2. You left Dayton off the list.
  3. Word is that they are waiting for school to end that way they know what teaching jobs are available in the school, and the job must be posted a certain length which would put it right in the middle of their final week which is not ideal for administration.
  4. Sadly this district has always been a battle for the 2 seed. I think NCC coming down actually levels the playing field a little. Not that NCC isn't good but Beechwood has been more of dynasty in recent years than NCC.
  5. What are the chances that NCC requests to remain in 2A? That would make a 2A district with NCC and Beechwood very fun and competitive and finally give the river city schools a district that can be won by a different team year in and year out. Even if Holy Cross (Cov) were to drop into that district it would still make it competitive. That would be the most interesting and competitive way to do the small schools in NKY.
  6. Is the job even posted anywhere yet? I haven't seen it on KHSAA or the Diocese website, although interestingly enough they do have a middle school head coach job posted for NCC
  7. While not trying to take away from anything he did, if you look he was only there for two years, during those two years he went 5-5, and 8-4 being beaten by NCC in the playoffs, but he had very good athletes on the team. Plus the year he took over the team they went from 41 players the previous year to 33 his first, to 39 his second with 10 of those being freshman. Idk it’s hard to judge someone being proven at a high level when you are winning with a team that was already established over only a two year period. Could he have continued to win and keep numbers consistent maybe but I think we need more than two years to say he was high level and proven. Just a thought.
  8. Any other grumblings or hear say of people interested? Or does it look like it might be between Schmitz and Mason?
  9. Who are we referring to here?
  10. It is indeed factual. But he has already begun working in the school again so apparently it was not enough for him to lose his certification.
  11. But that brings up a valid point, will there be parents who do feel that way. could there be backlash from community? would it make the administration weary of bringing him back? Newport already has quite a few things working against it, is it worth adding fuel to the fire?
  12. Yea. Sorry wasnt attempting to be rude in saying that, I just didnt feel it needed to be aired out here. Don't want this thread to be sent to controversial again haha
  13. He was asked to resign. Due to personal issues which you can look up if you want to know more.
  14. I don't believe Wiggins would consider it. He has a pretty good thing going down in Alexandria. Growth in the program, season success, and the oncoming growth once that MAC is complete. Wiggins isnt going anywhere unless forced I would assume.
  15. Is it something he is interested in or are you just throwing out a name of someone they should consider?
  16. The position has been officially post on the district website. Any ideas on who would be interested?
  17. The reason this didn’t happen is Brossart already owns the land they are building on to, they would still have to purchase the land you’re talking about. But looks like it’s coming along if you like dirt piles ha but this is awesome when you think that just a few years ago the football team was close to shutting down for atleast a season. This should drive numbers up pretty high. Doubt that issue will happen again.
  18. I wouldnt say he threw him under the bus. How a coach feels about the program he also coaches is throwing someone under the bus? He just stated how he felt as a coach. There are plenty of coaches on plenty of staffs that often think things should or could be different. Doesn't mean they dont put on the polo with the intention to win or they try to stir stuff up but they are entitled to their opinion of the program. Especially when we are both coaches at different programs just talking about how the season went and what could be done better. Thats how teams get better, by being introspective and looking at what isn't work and what did.
  19. As a coach I feel like the fact that every team gets a playoff berth really waters down the playoffs as a whole. While I understand that we want every kid to experience that feeling, are they really if they know its guaranteed? To me it means much more when its earned. I really like the idea of the top two from each district go and really like the idea of the Bowl Games. You could take those "Bowl Games" and have them sponsored by a local company and do something good with it and maybe have it a charity bowl game where ticket sales go to a charity or cause. Something like this would only shine favor on KHSAA
  20. I have personally talked with a member of Highlands staff who not only coached with Mueller but played under him as well, and he says that it has a little to do with talent and more to do with BW. He said he really like BW but the same take no prisoners hard knocks football mentality is no longer there. The kids don't work as hard as DM had them working and he said there are times when he feels BW loses the kids during practice as far as attention and effort goes. Its not everyday but you cant be a perennial championship team when your team isn't working 110% at least most of the time which isn't the case anymore. And I have to say I agree with Mustang, its hard to complain about talent when you have over 100 players on your roster, there has to be 11 that can play one way or another. 1A-3A teams often have most of their team playing both sides of the ball the whole game, if thats what it takes to win at 5A then thats what you do. Coaches jobs are to put the best 11 on the field in order to win.
  21. Not that I have any issues with Chad, he's a great guy but how is he putting more competitive teams on the field each year? Dayton hasn't had more than 2 wins since 2014. They continue to struggle with numbers and fight academic issues at a school that is gaining praise for their academic work in the school. Many of those kids live rough lives outside of football already, if they continue with Chad then moral victories are good enough is the message. At some point they deserve to win. They have had the talent at times and misused it or ran gimmicky offenses and silly coverages in defense. Sorry this is one that I don't fully agree with. Not trying to be negative in a positive thread.
  22. Though I would never wish it on any Coach because we all work hard at what we do, now that the first round is over, which programs do you feel need a change in leadership? Try to be constructive and not just bash coaches because you are an angry fan. Please have reason for your claim other than "He Sucks" etc. Always interesting to see how people feel about their staff and team.
  23. Young team, very few seniors, junior leadership needs to emerge, but should be improved from last year just from maturation. Should be competitive in most district games.
  24. We do mostly lifting in June, 3 days a week, with some skill work after. I would be ok with going one more day and making it skill work only. The benefit in my eyes in June is for basic technique work and potential football IQ work on the individual position basis. These in my opinion have been the weakest unexpected points on all 3 teams I have been apart of so far. They need help with their stance, start, and footwork. And they need work on football IQ including playbook, situation, and understanding their roles as well as the other players around them. If we can use June to run through these basic drills and introduce the drills we will be doing on a daily basis come July, so that I don't have to spend 5 minutes explaining the drill we can save that time and drills become more fluid in July and the focus becomes more about the technique the drill is meant to work toward rather than understanding the mechanics of how to do the drill. These are the main reasons I think June is beneficial. Then when we return in July less time is spent in Indy periods and more in team periods to prepare for season start.
  25. Only thing negative I can say about this kid is that he has a temper that hopefully this year will go away with maturity. Saw him get thrown out of a game for talking to refs and then proceed to throw his helmet. Passion is good but he has to learn when to reel it in. Otherwise a tremendous athletes who would be welcomed on almost any team.
