What.... what happened? Wasn't it close late in the 2nd? I saw one of the updates and thought Campbellsville was going to hang with them. I was a bit wrong on that one.

It guarantees you an additional game, regardless. And I do think it allows you a chance to get more meaningful reps before the games count. Although, I really doubt that it's that extra scrimmage that makes Belfry who they are. For me, I'd much rather have an open week somewhere in that week 6-9 window. Because you know everybody is getting tired, everybody is getting worn down. Take a week, reset, work on the basics and then come back the next week refreshed and ready to roll.

But, how likely is it that those lapses happen in November? My assumption is that those weeks in November and December are quite a different mentality for Belfry than it is for just about every other school in this state. I met Haywood once, and he really seemed like the type of guy I was happy when he won. Their fans are a different case. I haven't met a ton, but those I have been around made me want Belfry to be embarrassed in the 1st round. Belfry is good. Really good. Really really good. The next 5 or 6 teams are good. Really good. But they stop there. But, could a good game from anybody beat an off game from Belfry? Yeah, of course. I think it's just that as the games get more meaningful, the focus of Belfry increases and their mistake chances go way way down.

If there were odds of Belfry or the field, it would be roughly the same as a really fast race horse (Corbin, Lex Cath, Boyle, Caldwell, Central, etc) and a Formula 1 car on a straight stretch. The only real chance they have of winning is a crash and burn scenario for Belfry. The sad thing is, that 2-6 range could easily have a state champion in plenty of other years. But they're going up against a giant. I think that 7-10 range could end up being whomever has had a hot streak, or the top team out of that 2nd district (Adair, Edmonson, Etown, Hart, LaRue).

I think Taylor grinds the game out and wins a close one. Taylor probably has the advantage of having an easier transition from last year to this year. Adair might have more talent, but I'm leaning towards familiarity in this contest. Taylor 16 Adair 13

Campbellsville has some speed. This game is hinged solely on how well Glasgow defends the edges. If they can, they win by 10+. If they can't, they lose by 10+.

I actually heard that this season, Spalding or Rawlings could be used, even through the playoffs. 2016 is basically a transition year, since the Spalding decision was made pretty late.

There will be 2 teams in the state finals that will make everyone say "I didn't expect that one." The longest losing streak will be broken. The longest winning streak will continue. It's South Warren, right?

I meant size less in a pure numbers sense, and more in a stadium size sense. WKU has 2 full stadium sides, which would allow home and visitor seats to be roughly the same quality with the same view. Having both fans on the same side creates a viewing issue. Look back at the stands at WKU. They're all between 35 and 35. You end up having one team G-50 and the other fans 50-G. Plus, as far as I know, EKU, Murray etc. don't really have much of a "club level" enclosed seating area. Do they? I just think they only capable venues would be UK, UofL, or WKU.

I think that has to be a major factor. For me, the schedule at WKU isn't enjoyable. I'd rather have 2 full days. I'd choose either UofL or UK based solely on the fact that you wouldn't have to worry about what that weekend might be like. I think those 3 schools are the only options. The rest are too small or too remote.

They wouldn't do the same thing 2 years in a row, after they got busted last year? Would they?

If this has been firmly established, I apologize, but are they going to be able to have a varsity team this year? Will all of the numbers issues I've seen discussed, they really aren't that far off from it being a major safety issue. I'd love for them to surprise some people and win some games this year, but man with what they have against them right now, that is a tall task.

The reality of high school coaching, is there are a few schools where a year that gets your fired would be a year they name the field after you at plenty of other places.

I would assume that all 10 teams on their schedule are just going to have 9 games. I don't have a clue what anyone could possibly do with, what, every team in the state almost 2 weeks away from their first game.

I actually believe it's illegal to use one to film a game. Although, personally, I really like the angles they can get.

I think Green could handle them easily. I know they had a lot of young guys last year, but they're still going to be pretty down. Going 0-10 isn't that much of an impossibility. They might be able to rally a win or two, but that's probably going to be about it.

I've gotten mine the last 4-5 years at Kroger.

It ends up being 5 full contact practices. A week of practicing full contact in full pads, and 5 practices that aren't full contact. To me, that's not a length of time that I would think is supremely critical to the development of players. Can 2 weeks be valuable? Yeah. But, I really don't think missing spring ball is the difference between a state championship and not.

If everything I've been told is correct, I seem to think that Foley was the favorite candidate among the parents. Although I could be wrong. And I'm not going to say anything negative about middle school coaches. The game is still the same, the concepts are still the same. It might be trendy to dog them for their level, but that's a really easy argument to make and it's not really saying anything about why or why not they will have success. Colleges everywhere are hiring high school coaches on their staffs, and that really isn't any different. I would actually venture out to say that it's probably an easier job to coach high school than it is a middle school. By high school, they at least have some game knowledge and have filled out more. Middle school could be a complete and total random draw every year. I don't know Foley, couldn't tell you anything about him.
