I know just about every school in the south central area has an AED available at several locations in their various schools. I know of quite a few programs who have an AED at their athletic facilities. Also, I'll always see an ambulance parked next to the field at just about every high school game. But, I don't know of many teams with an actual trainer. It very well might be a dad, uncle, booster, alumni or something along those lines who is a nurse or a doctor or something along those lines.

Wasn't there a poll on here about what ball that people preferred? I tried looking for it, but couldn't find it.

I'm not in love with this idea, but at the same time I never much cared for the early games.

What's the reason behind thinking he is?

I'd go B+, that's almost into an A-. They had a great year. Everybody can poop all over scheduling, but, they were one of the last 4 teams in 3A. So, yeah, I think they were fine. Would a tougher schedule have taught them some valuable lesson that would have allowed them to beat Lex Cath? I don't get the scheduling issue, and I probably never will.

Turf is becoming such a better alternative for so many schools now. If a company is able to create a turf option that gets below that 350K-400K range, you'll see a flock of schools going to turf. Over the life of the turf, it ends up being the cheaper alternative. After paint and upkeep and off season care, not to mention the hours into it's care and painting. That steep price point is pretty hard for most teams to stomach, though.

If you asked a lot of the Highlands faithful, I'm sure they'd possibly put it in the D to C+ range. If you look at their post season run and how close they came, it's got to be a B+. But, they really fell short of their normal results in the regular season. I like the idea of averaging the 2 semester together, with a little more weight on the post season, since those games count for just a little bit more. B-. Not the Highlands we all know, but not that far off either. I would have loved to have seen the game against Pulaski.

As far as program perception on things other than wins and loses, I'd put Desales over pretty much anybody. Factoring in on field performance, they don't slip past 10, at worst. An A program, without a doubt. Just fell short of where they wanted to be.

This is pretty much my exact feelings. I'm willing to overlook the 2 shutouts a little more than that, though. For me, it's hard to give a team an A of any sort, when they didn't make the finals. Granted they had to play Mayfield. Maybe if I was feeling more generous today, I'd go with an A-. But I didn't sleep well, so that never leaves me in a good mood for the day.

This one is a tough one, for me. They made it to the championship game, and had an immensly harder road than Belfry. But, that didn't make a difference in that whomping in the finals. That game was bad, and wasn't even good for someone who isn't a fan. They looked over-matched and especially over-powered. I thought it had the potential to be a good game, and was wrong. Majorly wrong. They had 4 loses to very good teams, and beat quite a few good teams along the way. Even an E-town team that made one heck of a run this year. I would be tempted to maybe give them a B+ simply for coming through the west side of the region in 3A. Give them an F for the championship game. If they were more competitive in the finals, I would stick with the B+. But they weren't, so I'd probably have to say a B-. Although, I think that end result was coming, no matter who came out of the west.

This is something that not enough people realize. For me, I'm most impressed by the people who go beyond their talent. A guy who coaches a team with almost zero talent, but wins 6 or 7 games? Yeah, that's super impressive. The guy who wins 12 games but has a roster that should win 15? Meh, that's good enough, I guess. I think some of the smartest coaches are the guys who can scheme and game plan around some pretty awful kids, and then win games.

Even though it's not the same guy, are we really willing to let a bad year or two define the career of a coach? I mean, if we're talking about the same guy (not the Stephens from Adair) then I'd assume that most guys would be able to get another opportunity somewhere down the road. But, I could be wrong.

5 TD's is effectively a running clock. I don't think Male runs the clock on Mayfield. But, I really wouldn't be all that surprised if they did. Heck, you might be right. I could be wrong, there's a first time for everything. But, I think any given year, the top 5 team in 6A beat anybody in 1A or 2A, and probably anybody in 3A.

I can't not give them anything less than an A+. Even if their schedule wasn't the toughest, the fact that they didn't get anything wrong, leads me to give them the +. They were just the bully in every game they played this season. Props to the kids and staff there, they had a great year.

A "bad" 6A team really isn't any different than any other team, really. They might have a few more numbers, but that's from a big pool of students. They probably have a lower participation percentage. I'd take anyone in the top 5 or 10 in 1A and 2A against the bottom 5 or so, of 6A. And I'd take the top half of 3A against the same teams.

It's a no, unless you're talking the top tier teams, like Mayfield or Desales and that crowd. But, even then, instead of being a straight up no, it's a maybe. I'd actually say the same thing for a 6A team playing a 3A team. Unless you're playing a Central, Belfry, Boyle and the like, don't do it. The numbers and talent pool are so vastly different, and the depth and quality of depth are a completely different level.

Listen man (or woman), when I was watching Super Bowl 49, and the Seahawks threw that interception in the end zone, I knew that it was the wrong call. And if that doesn't make me a great coach, then I don't know what does. I am 100% accurate on telling someone what a good move or a bad move was. Plus, I have very strong opinions and am a huge fan of football. If that's not qualified, then I don't know what is. And don't even get me started on Madden. I can put up some insane numbers on there. Touchdown City, mayor: ME!

If I recall correctly, there were quite a lot of people who picked against Adair in the FC, Monroe and Taylor games. At least more than I would have thought. Adair has had a football team for, what, 60 years roughly? And in all that time, their 2 best seasons came the last 2 years? Law of probability simply has me believing that there have been good players come through the program in that time period. They never had success. Not just any coach can coach good players. Is it easier? I'm sure it is, because you can just let them go out and make the plays you need made. You're going to try and invalidate the wins over the last 2 years against teams with a bad record? Seriously man? Really? You seem to be a pretty big Adair guy, so I'm pretty sure you were insanely happy when they beat Monroe for the first time in years, and beat Russell for the first time in years and won a playoff game for the first time in ever. IN EVER! If you want to crap all over the scheduling, then do it. But you need to realize that their schedule isn't drastically different from what it was a decade ago, or 15 years ago. And they didn't win 10 games then. You seem to want the best hire for the program, and I'm sure every parent, booster, player, admin, and fan would agree 100%. I know there are plenty of coaches on this site, and you aren't selling your program very well. Darn near a lynch mob against a coach? Yeah, that's what guys are looking for when they're looking to take a new teaching job, buy a new house and relocate their family. I don't know who the hire should be. I'm not super well schooled on coaches who aren't in the top tier, and that's my fault. But, man, you really aren't doing yourself or your team any favors by dogging the former head coach and a current asst coach. And with that, I'm out on this one.

Is a loosing record worse than a tight record? I mean, 1-9 before Gay got there seems pretty loose.

Even though Green only won 4 games last year, they were close in all of them except for 2. I don't know what players they lost or anything like that, but, if they build on last year, there is a real chance that they could get several more wins. Heck, I'd say if there were a few plays that had gone differently in 4 of those loses and you'd be looking at a team that won 9 games. With all of that being said, Monroe is still Monroe and Glasgow is still a solid program devoted to winning. They're in a difficult district. Their cross-district? Ever harder. Green could have a wonderful season, host and win a playoff game, and then face a giant in Desales or CAL in round 2. It's a rough road with plenty of work. But, from everything I've seen and heard, Coach Jackson is the guy who can get it done.

Ford had one of the better coached Caverns teams of recent memory. Although, I'd say he'd have to get hired in the building, this time, instead of driving so far every day.
