In a season where the 2A Colts managed to beat 6A Ballard, go 1 and 1 against 2A strength CAL (including a 19 point win over them in the playoffs), and a hard-played regular season loss by two touchdowns to an eventual 5A state semifinalist, Fern Creek, the Colts have virtually nothing to be ashamed of. Their 5 point loss to the 2 a champion Mayfield Cardinals in the state semifinals actually proved to be a closer margin than the Cardinals' championship game the following week.

 

Solid season for DeSales. We'll see if they can come back in 2016 and pull one out against Mayfield in the playoffs.

 

Do you agree with a A- for DeSales? What grade do you give the Colts?

I want to give the Colts an A- but two shutout regular season losses keep putting me back in B+ territory.

 

I do agree the Colts finished strong hanging 37 on CAL in the rematch and playing Mayfield to a one possession game in the state semi-finals.

Gotta give a B- here maybe a C. Two reg season shutouts and a loss to Mayfield when up two TDs cant be an A.

Even though one of those shutouts was only by two touchdowns against the #4 5A team, Fern Creek? And they avenged the other shutout with a 37-18 larger margin victory later in the year?

 

Not to mention that B-/C seems a bit low for a team that played Mayfield (a team you rated A/A+) to a five point difference.

Maybe if I was feeling more generous today, I'd go with an A-. But I didn't sleep well, so that never leaves me in a good mood for the day.

As far as program perception on things other than wins and loses, I'd put Desales over pretty much anybody. Factoring in on field performance, they don't slip past 10, at worst. An A program, without a doubt. Just fell short of where they wanted to be.

I said B- on 3 losses for the season and not even making the state championship game. I would think that most Colt fans would say the season didn't go as they wanted by their standards. Even though they beat CAL by 37 in the rematch , that says to me they weren't prepared correctly in the 1st game either by the coaches or the players had issues. DeSales is a 1st rate program but I say B- for the 2015 season.
