The departure of coach Kenny Davidson in January marked the 4th head coaching change in the past 5 seasons at Caverna. The position has been open for two months now. Any leads, rumored names, or news on interviews?

I know they're doing interviews within the next 2 weeks, but I'm not sure when an announcement would be made. Any of the names I've heard have all just been pure speculation, so I can't confirm anything. But I've heard several asst coaches from schools in that area have applied.

They had a real good coach two years ago.

where did he end up? he had a solid season and then headed out but I don't remember hearing his name as a head coach somewhere else.

Correct DH. Coach Ford did a really good job, but he was still driving from Somerset everyday (still taught there) and was able to it to Caverna in the afternoon thanks to Caverna being on CST.

That's a problem. If you hire a coach who also teaches, you HAVE to get that person a job in the school/district.

That's the majority of the problem. How serious are you taking football when you can't even offer your head football coach a teaching position in the district. Working all day in Somerset then driving to Horse Cave to coach football every day is crazy. Shame they didn't get him teaching position he done a very good job with them.

I was interested in the distance he drove between Somerset and Caverna every day.

 

According to my GPS, it's 90+ miles one way.

 

So, he was putting over 1000 miles on his car per week. His dedication to that job has to be commended. I can't think of many people who would be willing to do that.

Doesn't sound unlike Coach Poynter when he was driving from home in Richmond to coach at Bellevue. Dedication from guys like them...

Larry Shawn Thacker, former Pike County Central HFC, is supposedly the new coach at Caverna.

That would be correct. There's an article from the Glasgow newspaper about it.
