South Warren gets an A in my opinion. It became clear early on that they were a class ahead of everyone else in 4A and quite frankly they did what they should have done to the 4A class. It's hard to give them an A+ when they were never truly tested all season long. I guess getting every answer right on the test leads to a 100%/A+ but when you are doing simple math it makes it a lot easier to ace the test.

I also agree their schedule was lackluster but it was exactly what the Doctor ordered. Just like his dad, Coach Smith is careful/smart when it comes to scheduling.

As a Shelby County fan, I am very bitter against this team, but objectively point out just how difficult it is to go 15-0. Also, while they didn't play the gauntlet schedule that the Highland's and Trinity's of the world love to play against national powerhouses, they did play against some pretty good KY teams. Hopkinsville, Franklin-Simpson, Shelby County and Johnson Central were all top 7-ish in 4A this year, including 2 of the top 3, and South completely dismantled them all. Still, would've loved to see them play Bowling Green this year. Congrats to Coach Smith and the Spartans on their first state title.

I don't believe for a second that Carothers is why they haven't played. They haven't played because it's Bowling Green and they have been exceedingly careful about who they play and when.

I can't not give them anything less than an A+.

 

Even if their schedule wasn't the toughest, the fact that they didn't get anything wrong, leads me to give them the +. They were just the bully in every game they played this season. Props to the kids and staff there, they had a great year.

If the 2015 BG team was in 4A and did what South Warren did last season would that be worthy of an A+? I say no because it would be a 5A school dominating a lesser class which is what they should do.

Easily an A+. When your closest game is a 3 TD victory when you have significant injuries, that's impressive. No team in 4A could touch this team last year.

Solid A.. call it a 94%

 

No question they were in a class by themselves in 4A.

 

The knock that keeps them from A+ range is that non-district schedule, especially when you compare it to the other teams vying for an A+ Grade. When you have teams like Male, Mayfield, and Belfry who had numerous wins over State Runner-Ups and State Semi-Finalists, it raises the bar. With that said... it is also hard to penalize them too much when their schedule was a drastic improvement over year's past.
