Yeah, this is where I'm going to lean with this one. Everybody prefers to win, obviously, but while it doesn't measure out any differently, this is a loss you can for sure build from. And, you can frequently learn a whole lot more from a loss than a win. I'm sure the Scott Co. kids would have rather had a win, but, this isn't a loss they should be down about.

I have absolutely no problem with someone running the score up. There's only one time when I have an issue with it: 1. When someone is up by a running clock, the other team has more than conceded, and the team on top is going out and trying to hurt those 2s who are in. I remember seeing it a few times, and it just felt that they were trying to make sure that the team knew they were worse, as if the score didn't tell them that. I think when the clock starts running is a great time to reward some younger guys with a score if you can. Or guys who you know have put in a lot of hard work and just haven't been able to find the endzone. I think you try and find a way to get those guys a way to get the points. And I'm going to agree that if someone subs in their 2s with the lead, and the other team doesn't but could, then anything is fair. This is my all time favorite quote on running up the score, from Mike Leach : The interesting thing about football is that football is the only sport where you quit playing when you get a lead. In golf, you keep trying to score well when you’re ahead. In basketball, they don’t quit shooting when they’re ahead. In hockey, they don’t quit shooting when they’re ahead. In boxing, you don’t quit punching when you’re ahead. But in football, somehow magically, you’re supposed to quit playing when you’re ahead. Well, I don’t subscribe to that. I don’t do it like that. And you know, the truth of the matter is, Nebraska never has either. At the end of the day, nobody complains about scores when they're winning. And that's all it is.

That makes me feel bad, because a streak like that has to hurt. It'd be cool to see somebody go to those places and get some wins.

I felt really confident picking Belfry. I felt decently confident picking Boyle. I talked myself into picking Lex. Cath. Although, I can see any of them winning, except for Central. It's the only one I would be surprised if they won.

The only thing I feel like Sideline really gives is just the instant replay ability. If you have a good enough coach in the box, he's going to be able to tell you exactly what you are seeing. I mean, the ability to have video to share with the players is great. But, I really wonder how many times it's actually been a difference maker in a game. Like, has there been something that they caught on the iPad that none of the coaches realized? I've seen some camera's now that have a built-in projector. Obviously not the same level, but, could it be deemed as unfair for a team with one to take it into the locker room at halftime to show what adjustments needed to be made? As someone said earlier, there's always going to be somebody at the top and always somebody at the bottom. Sideline really isn't that much more, especially since just about everyone has HUDL, from what I know.

I think we can close this thread now. Good talk, guys! In all seriousness, he really is seemingly in a league of his own, in my opinion. But, there are plenty of good backs on the western side.

As far as just straight predictions, CalPreps is extremely accurate. As far as comparative rankings, I don't really think anything is accurate when it factors in multiple classes.

I expected more from Campbellsville so far this season. I thought they would beat HC, and I thought they would be closer with Glasgow. They did neither of those things, so I'm at a loss currently with how to predict them. With that being said, Campbellsville has WAY more speed than Taylor. Taylor has more size than Campbellsville. I think whomever is leading at the end of the 1st, will be the winner. I'm going with Taylor in this one. Taylor 26 Campbellsville 14 Although I'd like for C-ville to win. Because Dudley.

I would have loved to have known what Casey could have done in that second game. Just based off of the 3 games played between the two teams this season, I'm kind of inclined to go with Casey. But it's a close game.

Love the underdog stories like this every year. It's especially nice what they've been trying to build at McLean.

It really does depend on who the team is. Eight is impressive, but I wouldn't be surprised if some times it could get up to 10. But, some times I wouldn't be surprised if certain teams usually had their receiver number anywhere from 0, up to 2. I would say that 4-6 would be about the average.

So, why was the game postponed?

Wasn't Lex. Christian running TFS when they won?

I've seen enough spread teams who are absolutely awful, and probably almost an equal amount of double tight, wishbone teams who are just as awful. Good football, regardless of system, is always enjoyable to watch. Bad football, regardless of system, is occasionally funny to watch and always painful.

There are a few things I've noticed about high school football, especially recently, with regards to offense. 1. You're getting roughly 25% of a new team every year, and you didn't recruit them. You can either mold them to what you do, or mold what you do to them. 2. A whole lot of high school players are bad at consistently tackling and covering in space. Very few kids will go a game without being a liability for at least a few plays. Those few kids are the ones who will play at a good college. 3. Too many people want to talk about run/pass balance, when all they really mean is that you throw it too much. You're "unbalanced" if you're 70/30 pass. But, no one uses the same term if you're 95/5 run. That's good ol, classic, smashmouth football the way George Washington would have liked it. 4. The nature of youth can frequently lend itself to flashy schemes and scoring lots of points. If you win 7-0, one kid scored. If you win 77-70, then chances are 5 or 6 kids scored multiple times. Same margin, same result. But different kids got noticed, got touches and at the end of it all, got cheered for specifically when they scored. Fooball is constantly changing and evolving. Football is also, pretty much, the same game it was 100 years ago. So many of the concepts are the same. So many of the things people think are new, are just old school concepts with different formations, different motions, different tempos, and a different name. There are tons of college teams who people think are insanely futuristic and cutting edge with their offense, but are pretty old school in their concepts. Football is neat.

I would be inclined to say either Adair or Bell. It might not have been the best wins, but I can guarantee that both programs put a lot of stock into winning the first game. A win is always wanted, and always prepared for. But, I feel like for both of those teams, that game really meant a lot for the coaches and players.

I'm not going to say they won't, but talking about going undefeated before someone plays Central seems a bit presumptuous.

Russellville wins big, and quick. And that's probably why they won't keep the shutout going. 40something to 7.

One team is down from last year, one team appears to be up from last year. I still think I'm going to go with Etown on this one, because I'm not sure how much of a quality team Marion beat. This actually might be a pretty good game, though. I'd love to see the Knights pull this one out and get things headed in a great direction.

Adair left, honestly, probably 20 points off the board. Glad I was able to be there for this one. Adair surprised me with how they played and how they responded every time Taylor cut it close. One of the more enjoyable high school games I've been to.
