There are several teams sitting just outside the top 10 in Class 3A and with poor performances by teams like Paducah Tilghman and Elizabethtown in their openers, these teams could find their way into the top 10 soon. Bardstown is the obvious answer due to their win over 4A #6 Spencer County so they aren't included in this poll.

BELL COUNTY beat Middlesboro 34-18

CASEY COUNTY beat Powell County 37-0

EDMONSON COUNTY beat Caverna 46-8

FLEMING COUNTY beat Estill County 49-7

WESTERN HILLS beat Washington County 54-40

I would be inclined to say either Adair or Bell.

 

It might not have been the best wins, but I can guarantee that both programs put a lot of stock into winning the first game. A win is always wanted, and always prepared for. But, I feel like for both of those teams, that game really meant a lot for the coaches and players.

Fleming County

 

Estill was supposed to be decent this year and Fleming crushed them... Casey County's win was solid but Powell lost a lot from last year.

 

All the other ones were not very impressive.

My thoughts as well. Bell's win is hard to judge because Humfleet went out with an injury. Adair, in my opinion, shouldn't have had to put away Taylor late in the 4th. Edmonson beat an absolutely inferior opponent while Western Hills gave up a ton of points. Casey's win is impressive, not because Powell is great, but because the Rebels just dismantled them. But the winner here is Fleming, who looked very impressive against a team that should be okay.

Just reading the score doesn't tell the whole story of the Fleming vs Estill County game. Fleming held Estill to under 70 yards rushing and 0 yards passing. Estill got their score off a turnover on Fleming's 2nd play of the game. Fleming had over 350 yards of offense in 3 quarters. The running clock was started in the 3rd quarter and Fleming substituted pretty heavily in the 2nd half.
