Harry Doyle
Travis Gay has resigned his post as the head man of the Indians effective today after the most successful tenure of any in the history of the Adair County Football Program. He resigned for a truly, better opportunity. He currently is and will remain the Assistant Principal at Adair County, but will now be roaming the sidelines at Lindsey Wilson College as an assistant coach for a Blue Raider program that has quickly became a national NAIA power in their few years of existence. Coach Gay had a 33-22 mark in five seasons at Adair County, including winning the programs first and only two playoff wins in history the last couple years. Adair County finished the 2014 season with a 9-3 record, and doing one better this year with 10-2 mark. Needless to say; Travis, his staff and his players have raised the bar for program that was once considered a long time "doormat". He resigns leaving the program in great shape for the next coach of the Indians. Adair County returns several of its main playmakers next year Seniors Chance Melton (QB- 1689 Pass/784 Rush), Jordan Lasley (RB- 1090 Rush/429 Rec), Lonnie Grant (RB- 610 Rush/258 Rec) and leading WR- Shymez Brabson (907 Rec). ....tip o' the hat to you good buddy. kypride
True hard work put in there. Rural 1 school county. 1-10 the year before he arrived. 6 years later 10-2. Only playoff wins in school history.
Purple88
Best of Luck Coach! Adair County really has come together for this football program and brought them together for something they can be really proud of. Great Job! Good luck Indians Next Season! tonkatruck
How could this work? If you are an assistant principal I am assuming you have to be at the school until around 4:00. Not sure when the college practices but seems like this would be really hard to do.

brooks4prez
Being a HS HC and an administrator was the hard thing. This will be the exact opposite of that. So I am assuming no recruiting responsibilities? And I'm also curious about how this will work in general

Pick-six
It can work. Coach Dewayne Ellison has been an administrator in the Scott County school system for years and worked at Georgetown College as an assistant in football.
Wildcat18
This is an interesting opening. Will they hire from within or look outside?
Harry Doyle
This is an interesting opening. Will they hire from within or look outside? Not sure. I will say this, whoever they hire (especially if from the outside), they need to leave their own ego at the door for another year...get out of their own way & let that crew of kids do what they have been doing (on both sides of the ball, but especially offensively). As in...to a T. Don't mess with things. Discipline? Check Offensive lights out production? Check Straws that stir the drink returning? Check Solid, sound D scheme? Check. Culture? Check. Booster Club with some good $$$? Check. Uniform wise, they are the Oregon Ducks of KHSFB. New weightroom? Check. The least attractive part about this job to many on the outside is the pay (both teaching and coaching). It's probably one of, if not the worst of all 5th Region districts. Wildcat18
I'm not too familiar with Adair as I'm not a huge follower of 3A outside of Corbin. What offensive system did they run last year?
kypride
They were in a shotgun wing-t based on rocket toss.
gridiron guy
Great job the only problem is Etown in the district and a region with Caldwell and Puducah. If any year they could beat those teams this year is the year. Not only do they have the above guys returning they also have a WR/DB who was hurt most of last year returning as well.
