Don't sleep on Harlan County in terms of the top of 5A this year. Probably not a top 5 5A team yet but one that could certainly creep into the conversation as the year goes on.

Eastern Kentucky had a team in the 3 of the 6 title games and won 2 of them a year ago. Pretty good argument for them being number one.

Camp invite no contract. BUT the fact that he has the opportunity to make that dream a reality is beyond awesome. If he makes it that's icing on the cake. Man the 2016-2017 school year continues to be the year of the Golden Eagle in Paintsville!

I would think that 30-34 somehwere in that range would be "young". And obviously anyone younger than 30. But I am with you I have no idea what the average age for first year head coaches is. I would like to know. Would also be interesting to know the average age of all head coaches.

A guy who is 39 is not a young head coach

Pikeville, Belfry, Valley and apparently Phelps all nice places to play. Pike Central and East Ridge subpar. Well East Ridge playing surface is really bad as far as seating/backdrop it's actually not bad.

I believe three were freshmen. One thing that is important to remember is that usually MoCo doesn't include freshmen on the Varsity roster and keeps them totally seperate. (Except for a handful or less that elect to participate in summer practice)

48 listed on the official KHSAA roster. Still not a great number for 5A football if that held through the season. I'm sure they lost a few along the way though.

Good point. Just don't know that everyone understands that the guy does have quality experience beyond his time at Montgomery. The issue here is that this thing has been dragging on for so long. Hire candidate A, B, C, or Z just hire somebody

Everyone has the impression Sizemore has only been at Montgomery when in reality he has been on a number of great staffs and has coordinator as well as college experience.

McPeek has a great resume but you also have to consider that it is a resume that includes a ton of wins over teams that Fairview was just far more talented than. Not saying that to bash McPeek but it's a fact. Maybe the situation at Montgomery is one that he would not be as successful at? Once again not bashing just a thought. Some people are going to be more successful at certain jobs/places

With the state of football and football coaching in Kentucky I am amazed that McPeek would even want out of Georgia. Really probably ended up in a better spot AFTER leaving Kentucky than he ever could have had or will have in Kentucky.

Hearing Ratliff hired as an assistant principal at Pike Central. True? If so, does this mean that A.) He will absolutely be the next head coach or B.) He just wants to get into administration and not coach??

Letcher Central filled. Hired Junior Matthews. Has been head middle school coach for 4 years.

College and High School not comparable in this way. Let's face it as a high school in Kentucky you are taking a huge risk hiring McPeek just because of past offenses. May not be right or fair but it's the truth.
