Jamie Egli Is Montgomery County's New Head Coach

Featured Replies

Here's hoping he gets a legitimate chance at MoCo.:thumb:

Welcome to Moco Jamie!!!!

Already hearing Jamie is reaching out to all age groups and making a good first impression.

Does anyone know if he is bringing any coaches with him?

How many old staff members will stay on?

If Jamie can get the numbers up and sustain that for a few years the program has a chance to grow.

Was told he met with both the high school, and middle school players today. Heard he is bringing at least one guy, and maybe two more. Also was told he has not met with any of the current staff.

Congrats and good luck coach.

Little history on him please.

I had posted this in the other thread, but here you go!

(Prior to the below, he was an assistant coach at Scott County under Jim McKee)

09- 6-6 (6A District Champs, triple option)

10- 6-5 (lost to Scott County in the 1st Round of the playoffs)

12- 6-6 (Lead the state in Passing, 38 pts/game had 5,600 yards of total offense)

13- 8-4 (another year of great offensive production. 44 pts/game and over 5,000 yards of total offense again)

11, 14 and 15 were hard years no doubt. I've seen Egli catch a lot of flack on here, but it's funny how a 6A District Championship, a high flying prolific offense for some time and three playoff wins are never brought up at Nelson.

Congrats Coach Egli. Love your wide Texas tech split offense. Best of luck at MoCo.

I hope the rumors that he is bringing players is not true. The local kids have waited for their opportunity to play and should get the chance to do so.

I think he mean't staff in terms of "guys" that he's bringing with him, not players.

What local players, you had 30 kids on the team last year.

I'm hearing his defensive coordinate may be coming I'm also hearing a few names being thrown around for a lineman coach.

@ThatGirl, if your son plays it looks to me like he's getting a nice coaching staff put in place. You need to get all your sons friends to come out and play. Like @plantmanky said, 30 kids on a 5a football team don't/won't cut it.

Your son needs teammates, even if they only practice hard against him to make him better. Football is the ultimate team sport.

High five to Rocky Franz and Kevin Letcher for this hire and the retooling of the staff.

I do not have a son on the team. I am all for getting more kids to come out, that has been a problem for years. I just hate to see wringers brought in from other counties. There are enough kids here to field a good football team, someone just needs to get them to play. I am excited at the prospect that this new coach and staff can generate interest and make it fun again!

Actually, there were closer to 60 kids on the team last year. Only 30 of them ever got on the field.
