I have heard they may not have a program this year due to only having 14-15 kids. Can anyone confirm this ??? Will the school or district pay the forfeit fees if this happens ? I can't believe the district let this happen at WC. Still baffles me and I'm sure many others. WC has such a tradition in football over the year plus that facility now. I was just curious if they are going to play. I would pull my kid off the team if they only had 15 players playing the BRUTAL schedule they play.

I am hearing the decision will be made on or around August 1st. Do not believe they will play a varsity schedule.

Wow! Just wow! How could a storied football program like Warren Central fall so fast? It really is unbelievable. All residents of Warren County should remember this at election time. It wasn't the coaches and players fault. It was a bunch of school board members so frustrated with losing to Bowling Green that they were willing to gut a school like Warren Central to build South Warren and possibly beat the Purples. It's so sad.

Unless their head coach is just flat out lying, they will have a varsity team and schedule. I have been told no less than three times today that someone heard they were only going to play JV, and I simply gave the answer that coach Taylor gave us on the radio 9 days ago, that that is 100% FALSE. He claimed numbers in the low to mid-20s, and indicated at that time there were 27 at practice. Yes, those are terrible numbers, but on the surface, does not make it impossible to play. Now, should they actually play, it will be hideous. I think they might have one winnable game on the schedule, and I don't think they will get any wins. The majority will be bloodbaths. But if they don't play one, then personally I think you will have seen the last of Warren Central football for years - possibly ever. I think the loss of football will begin to have an immediate effect on other sports as well, as it will be a signal to any athlete who wants to play multiple sports that football is not an option. Look at Bowling Green and the athletes who play both football and other sports. At Central, that wouldn't even be an option. It will not help the situation any in my opinion for them to eschew a varsity schedule, and it will be that much harder to ever restart the program.

Not enough people are willing to be vocal and upset about the issue for the voters of Warren County to care. That is the absolute truth of the matter. Most of the people who would care enough have already pulled their children to go somewhere else. I have long wondered why the media does not make a story of how a school could be totally thrown to the wolves as Warren Central was. I mean, it's not as if this town really has that much in the way of significant news to ignore it. But if it has to come from people on the west side of town, it's never going to come. I think those who have been fighting are weary and tired. And there's not enough of us.

I do want to be clear as before that Warren Central itself is not entirely blameless. Decisions were made that accelerated this process and made it worse than it needed to be. The athletic hiring and firing practices in the past couple of years have been an absolute indictment of Dragon leadership. But then, that's also contributed by the fact that the leadership at the top of Central has constantly been replaced by county leadership, the environment has robbed them of their experienced administrators who moved on quickly, and instability reigns.

I think that the new proposal that is getting ready to come down the pike will back fire as well.

I believe a new elementary school (as nice as Jody Richards Elementary) will begin building process within 2 years in the "district lines" that will be "redrawn" that will be a new feeder school for WCHS.

Again, there will be no significant amount of houses that will be constructed in that area. There is just not a line of people eagerly awaiting to move near Morgantown Road. Facts are facts. Just as the board agreed to waste money on a new turf field (Dragons and Raiders) the new feeder school in that area will only be filled with attempts of redrawing county lines. What will be comical (sad, but comical) is the same people who thought county kids going to BGHS was a crime will be the same people that will fight for their kid to stay in their current school. You know I'm right.

I have always said that part of the reason the lines were of GREAT benefit to South Warren was due to the hopes of competing athletically with Purples, specifically Football. I know most will disagree with that statement but I truly believe that was part of the reason. Central wont recover on the gridiron and South Warren will not beat Purples anyway, consistently. Their record against Purples will more resemble Greenwoods record against BG than Centrals record against BG. Boo birds will be out, but that is my opinion.

People thought I was nuts last year when I said this but I will say it again: If WKU offers to purchase WCHS and give Central time and opportunity to relocate, the Board of Ed would be nuts to turn that down. Quit building turf fields and a elementary school that will not be desirable location for people. Strike a deal witb WKU and build a South Warren like campus (Cemetary Road area) and your problem is solved. But what do I know...

I really hate this. Warren Central has a long history and tradition in the football community and to see them deflated before our eyes in expedient fashion is unbelievable.

Im sure those board guys are happy as S Warren is having success. But to purposefully derail a program because you cant take another year of water cooler banter is shameful. But it appears done now. Sad

Just hope they don't play a varsity schedule for financial reasons. If the right decision is to buy out the contracts (which I believe it is) then they should do it and play JV only or freshman and JV.

If they cancel their varsity schedule will the teams affected be able to pick up another game? Sure is a time we are even talking about it.

I would assume that all 10 teams on their schedule are just going to have 9 games. I don't have a clue what anyone could possibly do with, what, every team in the state almost 2 weeks away from their first game.

Has anyone heard a for certain ruling on this? Will they play or won't they? I would assume they are playing a varsity schedule, because surely they wouldn't cancel their season with it only 2 1/2 weeks away?

I can only reiterate that I've been told multiple times that they plan to play a varsity schedule. I was told that twice yesterday by two different people. Every single person I've spoken to disavowed the "JV plan" that keeps making the rumor rounds.

Who can confirm they are down to 14-15 players Coach Taylor was on 1340 radio 10days ago said he was up to 27!

I would assume that is Frosh, SO, JRs and Srs. There are rules on how many quarters a player is legally allowed to play per week, I believe. Usually that does not come into play but on occassion. However in this situation, it would be a real issue I think when you are talking fielding 3 team (varsity, JV and Freshman) who will all play during a week's time.
