I do believe that is the major issue. Why are we waiting on a kid to clear injury protocol on a Friday. He’s had no practice contact, no preparation, and he’s being thrown into a contest that’s game speed fresh off of a injury. I agree with you completely this raises a lot of questions.

What does it take for Paris to crack the top 10?

Sounds like Frankfort needs to go stand in the corner. I don't understand that statement at all.

Let's be honest I am saying that these are two different programs in totality. Coach Fields is doing an amazing job at East and is turning the program around for the better. Ashland lost to the number 1 team in Class A and a strong Lawrence Co team. I am saying that I believe there is a style of football played in EKY where they are physical and they will lay on you for 4 quarters. I don't know if the Jaguars can with stand that but we will see for sure on Friday.

I struggle with a couple of these. South Warren ran the table in 4A in 2015. They were a hard team to beat fresh off a merger. Franklin has been one of the more consistent teams making it to the state game 2 times in 2024 and 2020, and lost in the state semifinals in 21,22,23. They have been one of the more proven teams as of late.

IMO Somerset will be a far more disciplined team than Paris. I do agree that the speed of the Greyhounds could pose a risk, but I don't know if they can handle the physicality from the Briar Jumpers. I think this is the first real test for Paris and we will quickly find out how good the Greyhounds are. Somerset: 35 Paris: 28

Despite playing one of the toughest early schedules in the state I think the Broncos find themselves in the win column this week. Douglass: 42 Creek: 14

Ballard is a hard read in the early running. Their win against Lexington Catholic looks a lot more impressive especially after last weeks win against Boyle. Despite two tough losses I expect the Bruins to bounce back and win this one. Station is off to a rough start and I don't expect this week to prove any different. Ballard: 35 Station: 14

Ashland is a different program. I believe East Jessamine has definitely turned the corner but the Tomcats play a different style of ball. I expect Ashland to handle this one with ease. Ashland: 35 East Jessamine: 7

Atherton is on a roll. I know it is early but they are firing early and I don't think the A-Train is anywhere close to hitting their peak. Atherton: 28 Manual: 21

Coming off a BYE week, Sayre’s last outing was a nail-biter, escaping Bishop Brossart in the final moments with an 8-5 victory. But there are still questions surrounding Sayre. The program is adjusting to life after losing major offensive weapons from last year’s 2024 State Championship team. Even so, the Spartans showed flashes of their high-powered potential and will look to return to form by lighting up the scoreboard. Expect Sayre to test Williamsburg through the air as both teams favor the passing game. Player to Watch: QB Gage Pennington (JR) – 27/45, 253 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT Williamsburg Yellow Jackets (2-1) ? Tradition runs deep in Williamsburg. Year after year, the Yellow Jackets remain one of the state’s most competitive programs, and 2025 looks no different. Coach Jerry Herron, now in his 19th season, knows exactly how to prepare a team for Class A battles like this one. The Jackets enter the game technically on a win streak, after receiving an unexpected forfeit win against Frankfort last week. Their most recent on-field action, though, was an inspiring comeback attempt against Paris. Despite trailing by 30 points, Williamsburg nearly pulled off a stunner, eventually falling short 32-36. That kind of resilience says a lot about the heart of this team. Player to Watch: QB Reece Hatcher (SO) – 33/63, 491 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT Tale of the Quarterbacks ? This game has the feel of a QB duel, with two young passers leading their squads: Sayre’s Gage Pennington is steady and efficient, spreading the ball around while protecting possession. Williamsburg’s Reece Hatcher is a gunslinger, already throwing for nearly 500 yards and 7 touchdowns this season. Whoever controls the tempo and avoids mistakes will give their team the edge. Final Thoughts This game feels like a true toss-up. Williamsburg has shown the ability to score at will, while Sayre’s defense impressed against Brossart. You aren't the only one who misses a competitive Frankfort team. Class A is much more competitive when the Panthers crack the top 10. This is the second forfeit in 3 years. Frankfort forfeited the Rock game in 2023. Hoping players return healthy and Frankfort gets back to playing good ball.

KCD had 19 returning Seniors on a Class A roster. Sayre plays them to the wire and a last minute FG. The Spartans will be firing on all cylinders when the playoffs run.

There are some factors that many missed on Friday. I will leave you with this statement. The Spartans will be a very different team when district time rolls around. Give me the Spartans this week by two TD's.
