On Friday night, the Trinity Shamrocks will welcome the Greyhounds of Carmel (IN) to St. Matthew's for a battle between Kentucky and Indiana powers.

Trinity enters Friday night sporting a 2-1 record and coming off their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of Moeller (OH) in a 24-21 defeat. Carmel (IN) is 3-0 and coming off a blowout 48-0 win over Centerville (OH).

Series History: Trinity leads 6-3. That includes a 41-14 win in 2023 and 35-32 win in 2025.

The Shamrocks have been headlined early this season by a solid rushing attack of JB Berry and Ashton Taylor. The junior and sophomore have combined for 325 yards and five touchdowns thus far. Taylor County transfer Cross Watson (Sr.) and junior Jayce Duvall have paced the receiving corp. On defense, watch out for the Rocks defensive line as they have set the tone and caused plenty of havoc in the backfield in each of the three contests.

I have not watched a down of Carmel football this year but they have beaten each of their three opponents thus far pretty handedly, or that is at least what the final scores suggest.

Carmel has three DI-bound seniors which included QB Anthony Coellner (Troy) as well as safety Issac Nelson (Wake Forest) and defensive lineman Kaiden Bower (Charlotte).

Carmel is ranked #2 in Indiana and has beaten 2 top ten teams in Indiana so very tough opponent. Probably will be another close game like the Moeller game. I'll go with Shamrocks by 3.

Carmel is always a talented squad. Trinity right now is in the throws of a gauntlet stretch: Moeller, Carmel, Male, St.X, Cincy X. This stretch of the season is what will get this squad prepared to pull together and put it all on the line come November.

Agree 100% about this schedule getting the Rocks “sharpened up” for the KHSAA District games and then post season. And when your F and JV squads also play the Moellers, Carmels and Cincy X’s of the world the way Trinity does, that is icing on the cake.

The Trinity Defense will be ready to shut down Carmel.  I have not been impressed with the Carmel game strategy the past few years when they have played the Rocks.  I expect to see the Trinity Run game be strong and a Trinity win by 2 TDs.  The Rocks need to win the turnover game!

Should also add that Friday night's game will feature Trinity welcoming back a former head coach as Kevin Wright leads Carmel. He led the Rocks to an 11-2 record as the head man in 1999. Trinity's season ended the year with a playoff loss to Bryan Station, 31-21.

I thought Douglass was playing a tough one sheesh! T vs X should be a good one but I would love to see a repeat of this contest late in November after Trinity has gone through this. Talk about battle tested.

I am taking the home team.

Trinity-28

Carmel- 27

Probably going to try to make this one.

This great game is in our BGP Pick 5 contest.

I will have this one on my main screen separate from my computers.

Anyone have the all time stats for this matchup?
