You always forget VOR to throw in that sticky change from 4 classes to 6 in KY. Happened during Rash's reign. Makes Rash's A schedule even easier. Compare records of the two coaches vs. CCH and NCC during their reign. The "mystical" state championships for Yeagle speak for themselves. Rash also plays nowhere near the out of district schedule that Yeagle used to. Last year Beechwood lost to Holmes. The Holmes coach was asked to leave after the season. Beating Dayton and Ludlow and Bellevue is nice. I'll put Rash near the top when he can beat Mayfield. Can't beat them at home. Can't beat them on the road. Can't beat them when he has a big team. Can't beat them when he has a speedy team. Just can't beat Mayfield Sam I Am. Rash's squads have not made the necessary adjustments and Mayfield is now their archrival and Rash can't seem to figure out a way beat them. (By the way I think Noel is one of the nicest human beings on the planet)= (Means diddly when coaching championship high school football)

Dale is an awesome coach. Amongst the tops ever. He was the head coach in Ohio at Sycamore and Withrow, and while there was some success, there were no state titles.

They should take up the collection plate at the basketball games.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Rash is a great guy, but the program is slipping. CCH has had two or three coaches in this time frame. Time to get Beechwood back to serious relevance again in football. Winning band state titles is nice but Beechwood used to MEAN football.

Both Tyler and Jackson played for the Gold Star Chili Tigers for many years in Boone County Knothole prior to playing for the Ryle Raiders. Throw in Ben Allen who pitched in the region tournament for Boone County in 2013. Craig Rose, who was the starting 1st baseman and starting pitcher in the 2013 region semifinals for St. Henry, and Ryan Rengering, a utility player, who started several spots for the 2013 region semifinalist Beechwood Tigers. They were all on the same District 24 knothole team the Gold Star Chili Tigers for many years. BTW Ryan Rengering was the winning pitcher last night in the 2013 Northern Kentucky All Star Game I just read. Not bad for a bunch of knotholers. As I have said before, knothole gets a bad rap here. This is what really happens. Dad coaches kid who is decent, but not enough other talent to surround kid-so then Dad signs kid up for select team with more talented players. If Dad's (Coaches) would develop the fundamentals of all the kids on the team, then the knothole teams would be better too. Truly the Dad's (Coaches) do a disservice to the rest of the kids on the team.

Funny....from your avatar name, I presume you are a Ryle fan. Check with your STARTING regional champion 2nd baseman and shortstop and find out what KNOTHOLE team they played on until they got to Ryle. Also Deters was on a Knothole team too, coached by his dad. To each his own indeed! Just know what you are talking about.

IMO part of it is that every kid regardless of sport wants to be on a "select" team. Soccer, Basketball, Baseball all the same. Pretty easy to be good (or you should be) when people are paying money and you can choose who you play with. That is why I like High School ball so much more. There is no "choosing" what team you are on, you are on your high school team. See if you can lift them up if you are so good. Some of the best can't do it. Some of the best are in reality playing for themselves and not the team concept of winning a ballgame. They want to know their stats. Check out how few players from the area go to D-1 college in any sport around here, stay and play, and how few actually make it professionally. Enjoy your high school years. The "select" stuff makes me laugh. In baseball, I will grant you Midland is top tier (at their highest level). That is it. Others are okay-Colonels, Bluegrass, but many of these kids believe they are going to play high level college. Not because the organizations told them that, but because that is what they believe.

Totally agree with this sentiment. I know there were several starters of good high school teams this year that played knothole for a long time-some through A ball. Schools in the 9th region include Ryle (Region champion), St. Henry, Beechwood, and Boone County.

I heard from some of the umps that hundreds of dollars were raised for Special Olympics so that is cool too. The Seniors that couldn't be there for whatever reason missed a fun night. I hope this continues. When is the boys all star game?

Good games indeed. Coaches did a nice job playing everybody. I was impressed with Madison Graham of Boone County as I thought she hit well. The Thompson girl for Conner played well too! Nice atmosphere. Great job Dixie.

Give me Sam Flynn, Jeremy Madden and Brett Deitz. We win. Game over.

Hey I have seen major league ballplayers in the playoffs make the same play. No shame in that as it is a tough one. Great season NDA and to all the players and coaches, keep your heads up as you were great 9th Region champions!

I don't know why, but I am really looking forward to watching these games. The Seniors with a final hoorah in many cases, and the Juniors provide what might be for 2014. LB13 is this the first time this has happened as I don't recall it in years past?

You are making all of my points Downhill Thunder....Cam missed 10 games out of how many for Conner? 35 to 40. So let's say he missed a quarter of the season. That right there would knock you out of contention in and of itself. Yes, when in, he was very productive. As I said I love his game. This award was for player of 2013 year, not a lifetime achievement award. Blake Tiberi-I agree with totally. As for other comments since it was mentioned by RSkinner that this was voted for prior to the region, then I would like to apologize to the Beechwood players Suchanek and Stringer as they deserved to be on this team. I do not agree that they should have been Beechwood's representative's from the 9th Region tournament squad. You could argue for Suchanek as he hit a homer, but Stringer I just can't see as he didn't pitch well and went 0 for 4 in the semifinal. Again-not putting anybody down as I believe Ethan is a D1 player and I am sure Coach Mullins nominated him. The stats in the region didn't support this choice as 2 or 3 others on the Tigers would have been more proper. Always difficult when saying something isn't right-especially with kids-so I am not putting anyone down Old Sports Dad. I am simply saying if choices must be made then do so with the stats from the region games, not based on the reputation of the players, or the regular season. Vote based upon the criteria given. And for all the rest-you have mistaken me for a Ryle fan, which I will be this week, and not before, and not after. Good luck Raiders downstate!
