The Northern Kentucky Softball Umpires Association are sponsoring a Junior and Senior All Star game this year at the conclusion of the season. The date will be Monday June 10, 2013 at Dixie Heights High School. There will be two games. One Junior All Stars vs. Junior All Stars and then Senior All Stars vs. Senior All Stars. Game times of 5pm for the Juniors and then 7:30pm for the Seniors.

 

The event will be the Gary Huhn 2013 All Star Game benefiting Special Olympics.

 

Players from 26 local teams will be participating. All teams from the 33rd, 34th, 35th and 36th districts will have all star players participate plus players from Simon Kenton, Scott, Campbell County, Silver Grove, Calvary Christian, and Brossart.

 

The coaches will be Denny Barnes from Newport Catholic, Kristin Koors of Conner, Sandi Kitchen of Campbell County and Roddy Stainforth from Dixie Heights. All girls and coaches will be given a t-shirt for their participation. All proceeds from the event will go to Special Olympics. The Northern Kentucky Softball Umpires Association believes that this Gary Huhn All Star Game benefiting Special Olympics will give our area additional exposure for girls fastpitch softball and reward the good, high quality athletes that participate in this fun event. It also would help a worthy charity.

A reminder to please tell the players nominated to show up for the 2013 Gary Huhn Girls Fastpitch All Star games.

 

The Junior game starts Monday June 10th at 5pm, and the Senior all star game follows at 7:30pm at Dixie Heights High School. I would recommend the Juniors be there no later than 4:30pm, and the Seniors no later than 7pm so the respective coaches will be ready to go.

 

The players can wear their high school uniforms. Complimentary t-shirts will be provided afterwards by the Northern Kentucky Umpires Association. An MVP trophy for each game will be presented.

 

An e-mail regarding this info is being sent to all head coaches.

I don't know why, but I am really looking forward to watching these games. The Seniors with a final hoorah in many cases, and the Juniors provide what might be for 2014.

But I will agree, excellent chance for some very well deserved seniors, some of who very few have ever scene, to have one more "moment in the sun".
