What does Beechwood need to do to improve in 2013? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Yes

You are correct, they do have a lot of talent coming up, but the loss of Nussbaum looms large. The young players at the skill positions are going to have to learn fast if BW is going to make the long drive to Mayfeild, and of course I know the folks in Frankfort hope they have something to say about those travel plans. I look for Mitch Thomas to be the primary ball carrier with Stringer getting more opportunities as the season progresses and he matures, Fieger looks to keep the momentum rolling that started with last years playoffs, but with young QB's you are never really sure what might upset the apple cart, his learning curve will be crucial to their success, IMO.

But they don't have to face Jonathon Jackson when they travel there. :D

I guess you haven't heard, Coach Morris has Jackson in one of his classes and according to Morris Jackson is not going to pass his class and will be short on credits to graduate and will have to return next year to Mayfield to finish up. Jackson was doing fine in Morris class until attempts by Morris to clone Jackson failed

I think Bw's season hinges on the line devloping along with the young qb and a willingness by Rash to leave his comfort zone and develop a much better passing offense to make the Beechies balanced somthing that I don't believe Rash has ever done. Bw. in my opinion, was the best 1A team Mf played last year and they were young but with Mf returning the line intact and one of the best qb's Mf has ever had it might be a tall hill to climb next year. Bw's line held strong until the half against Mf but were dominated in the second half and that should be prioriety #1 for Bw to work on.

Toothpick, as usual you just about dead nuts on. The line will be a priority this year, they have a number of good young players coming up, but you never know what might happen under the heat of those lights on Friday nights. IMO they will have some rough patches early on, but show marked improvement by the latter half of the year. Of course only time will tell.

It seams reasonable that BW will develop a passing game that can keep their opponents from loading up 8 or 9 in the box, the young QB Feiger looked good in the playoffs and hopefully it is something Rash can build around. IMO they will still run the ball 7 out of 10 plays, but look for them to get the ball in the air a little more frequently....of course only time will tell.

In short, I think every decision made at Beechwood should include how will "this" help us beat Mayfield? If the answer is, "it won't," then it is probably the wrong decision.

I don't know if we should call this the Mayfield Test or Mayfield Rules (like Jordan rules).

Thoughts?

If their young QB continues the success he had at the end of the season they should be fun to watch. They have some good recievers also and I am wondering if the Burns kid will have a pretty decent year as one of their wide outs. I already know he can kick but I liked what I saw when he got a chance as WR too.

For me, this year's team has more question marks than perhaps any team in the Rash era at Beechwood. There is a lot of talent but the talent is young and unproven on the varsity level. Where do the talented players fit best for this year's team? Who will the leaders be on this team? It is very tough for young players to lead even if they are your best players. Guru is right ... every decision should be based on one thing - will it help us beat Mayfield?

I don't think you beat Mayfield in 2013, I should say based on what Beechwood has returning and what the Cards have returning and playing in Mayfield, I like Mayfield's chances. The good news is that neither team has played a down yet and everything is speculative. In my opinion, 2014 will be Bw's best chance. A better passing game will help Bw this year and the future and the young freshmen looked good when I saw him.

If Rash can lose with the team 2 years ago. He can lose with any of them!

They were talented, but when you lose your qb early in the third qtr, it makes it awful tough to beat Mayfield, I dont think you can pin the loss on Rash.

BTW, welcome to BGP, even though I think your post was a cheap shot at best.

This will be the year where Bwoodians learn alot about Rash and staff. That much I think is certain but I don't, atleast at this point, see this year as being the year that he gets the Big Red Grinch that steals Xmas off his back
