Although Mayfield loses JJackson, I think this Cardinal team will be very good.. The reason is because of the line.. Typically when Mayfield has a great year, it's when they have experience in the trenches and when they struggle, is when they're young in the trenches.. This happens to be a year they return alot of starters across the front.. Guhy will likely go to the air 30+ times a game because I don't think they'll have a RB near the caliber of JJack.. They'll have a ton of receivers though, so, I expect Morris to utilize that strength.. Defensively, they'll be solid in the secondary and lin, just a matter if they'll have a couple of guys step up at the LB spots..

If Rash can lose with the team 2 years ago. He can lose with any of them!

You can't argue with the scoreboard and that is what it says. But that is easily the most frustrating loss for Beechwood and Coach Rash during his time (although that CCH loss at the goal line might be up there with it). I believe Coach Rash would say that as well in a private moment.

Agreed on the scoreboard but my bigger point is there is no shame in losing to a better football team and zero's comment was over the top in my opinion.

I would agree though I was under the impression that Bwoodians felt the Bw was better 2 years ago. Mayfield at the time had only Jackson and Higginson to lead a young inexperienced qb and young offensive line.

 

Over the last 5 years I have always thought that there was little talent gap and I have always credited Mf's success to their balance on offense vs Rash being to run oriented and never developing a passing game that was credible when facing a team like Mf who is similar in talent. That said I realize I have been saying that for years so Im sure that opinion comes as no suprise but I think it will become a factor again for Bw if they do not develop a more successful pass to go hand in hand with the run game. That run game is great until you get into the elite teams in 1A but there you need more. If that is not the problem then I believe that Mf is just inside Bw's head and they may be but I think back to the Mf losses to Danville and I never thought they were inside our head but those game for the most part all went right down to the wire before the Ads pulled out the win. I do think next year that one of these 2 will be your champ and at this point I think that favors Mf.

 

Should Rash continue to fail to bring home the title will pressure from the programs supporters threaten his position as coach? I would have thought by now that would have become somthing of a issue but on here it seems like most Bw fans have just come to accept Bw's current roll which is a far cry from the pasts where it unthinkable to not be anything other than the man in 1A

My comment may indeed have 'been over the top' or a 'cheap shot' in some folks mind; however, in my opinion, the program, parents involvement, dedicated kids gets Beechwood to the 4th round of the playoffs. The first 3 rounds of the playoffs are a joke (Frankfort can compete sometimes) and usually won by 30 or more. At some point, this coaching staff has to take some responsibility and admit they are not what they think they are. Again, this is just my opinion.

Well, in my opinion, Beechwood has been beaten by the better team these last 4 years. Beechwood has really only had 1 shot at winning one of these 4 games so I dont know if coaching is the problem but that Beechwood has not had their usual talent across the board.

Off that team, there are I believe 8 players that are/will be playing college football. Eyckmans, the offensive tackle, started as a true freshman at EKU and was just named a breakout performer in the OVC.

Oh yes, the fabled frosh champs. We had fun with that for awhile.

In short, I think every decision made at Beechwood should include how will "this" help us beat Mayfield? If the answer is, "it won't," then it is probably the wrong decision.

 

I don't know if we should call this the Mayfield Test or Mayfield Rules (like Jordan rules).

If he continues to run 90% of the time Bw will again be buying tickets to watch the games in BG after smashing 1A teams until the semi finals where it will bite the Tigers on the tail granted I think they will have a uphill climb with the Cards next year reguardless.

I agree, if BW runs 90% it will be a tough hill to climb if they make it to Mayfield, if they can provide more balance, say 70/30, it gives them a better opportunity, if for nothing else eliminating that 8th or 9th player in the box. The next few years will be fun to watch as both of these fine programs go at it.

I think that is where many people would disagree with you. If Beechwood continues to lose to Mayfield year after year there is nothing fun about it.
