I like Dan and his whole family. He is a great teacher. As a coach though he been numerous places like St. Henry, Simon Kenton, Holy Cross, and Walton Verona. Small and large. Catholic and public. I would say he has trouble staying settled in any one place.

CCH won and give St. Henry credit for hanging touch. Conner just better than Bellevue, but congrats to the Tigers for seeding their district this year and then advancing to the region. Highlands spanked Beechwood in the stunner of the day. Not in the fact that the Birds won, but that they ripped the heart out of the Tigers. And to Dixie congrats on finding a way to win, and to Boone for a great year.

I agree with LB13 on his statement above. From my point of view Meyers threw every bit as hard as Cain. Probably actually outpitched her today, but give Conner credit, they came up with the clutch hit when they needed it. The Lady Cougars will have to hit better than they did today to advance to the region finals.

I guess every baseball game from here on out is going to have that discussion about which teams dugout said what? Oh boy.

Boone County has got to be happy with this draw. No offense intended for the others in this bracket, but with Spencer out for Highlands, even though Mason pitched great, Boone County has got to be the favorite in the bottom half.

I agree Clyde. Losing Combs really hurts the Tigers as I think he is rounding out to be a stud on the hill. Perhaps Stringer is a starter instead of a closer?? From what I am reading he may need more time to warm up. And while the A state tournament is a ton of pressure, I bet Coach Mullins would trade that in for a 2014 9th region baseball championship.

I get your point Hellbird, and don't disagree, and for similar reasons, including weather, maintain that Kentucky is a poor state in baseball versus many parts of the country.

With a D-2 co-player of the year who is a pitcher and 3 other 1st team D-2 players I would say NCC, not Highlands, should be favored to win the 36th district tournament.

And with that being said, winning the state championship in basketball was the biggest thrill of his life!!!

2 solid teams for certain!
