The 2014 9th Region Tournament will again be played at Northern Kentucky University. Newport Catholic is this years host school, and we are awaiting confirmation on starting on Memorial Day with all four 1st round games.

Doing my best to get NKY fastpitch, on par or above, the "three-headed monster". :thumb: (b-ball, soccer, v-ball)

I know there are "considerations" of not playing on Sundays, but do you think going up against the Boys quad-header at Florence Freedom on Memorial Day will hurt the fan interest and media coverage?

Curious how this works out with NKU ? Do the schools get a decent take ? I am assuming attendees have to pay for parking ? I love the venue, but hate to pay for parking.

Fan interest----The softball fans, parents/grand-parents and the "true" fans of the game, will show up. However, lets be honest, softball gets about ZERO support from the "student body" of any of the schools.

 

Media coverage----The Enquirer and Ky Post will be present at both venues, so this will not be an issue.

One small set of bleachers that are nowhere near big enough to handle the crowd, last year both bull pens were completely full, and plenty of folks around the outfield fences and on both sides of the stands. I understand that and maybe there is not any more fan room anyway but I'm thinking that some families have to make a choice if they have someone involved in baseball and softball. Plus what few students might show up will likely head to the Boys games in the large stadium. Playing on the Sunday before Memorial Day likely results in some other problems like trying to get 4 games in between say 1 PM and 10 PM.

Back in the day, I can remember going to to Skyline, getting a "to go" pitcher and sitting on the hill watching NKU softball…best seats ever

A dollar or 2 at the gate is better than the $5 to NKU to park. Pay the extra 150 or whatever it is these days on top of the contract and tack it on the price of admission. I would rather put a couple $ in NCC pocket than $5 in NKU pocket. Its a win win
