The 1st round of the region playoffs in baseball are 9000 times more competitive around the state than the first round of the state football playoffs. I know VOR is trying to make a point, but the hypothesis is totally incorrect.

So easy for a "travel team" to be good. These are generally girls that are willing to spend their summer traveling and playing ball along with their families-a big time and money commitment. Sometimes at the high school level, coaches get what they get. No knowledge of this situation, but travel teams by and large should be better than high school teams. I have been involved with many summer teams, and I really don't see a lot of coaching going on there. The girls are good, and the coaches main responsibility is organization, raising money, scheduleing and setting lineups. High school ball would be much harder to coach in my opinion.

Thought all the teams played well, and the crowd was great. Nice job by Cooper to have the field ready. Beautiful day for softball after a lousy spring with all the rain. Congrats to Boone County and Ryle. Cooper played outstanding, and Conner finishes off a tough 2016.

Where does the money come from for these scholarships?? No dog in the hunt, and appraciate all the hard work that everyone does to put this on.

Beth is an awesome coach and nice lady. Glad to see folks are noticing. Nice article by Marc Hardin, who is a friend of Northern Kentucky sports for sure.

I'd like to know how much "coaching" goes on in summer ball. What I have seen, they are hand selected, select kids, who travel around playing games. Haven't really heard much about practice with the number of games that are played. Certainly playing games with and against better players makes you better, but not so certain about the coaching part ( and not knocking anybody that puts their hard earned time to be coaches of these teams.)

The SEC is a horrible basketball conference. Stop whining.

Probably should be the best game of the girls region in terms of it being close.

They all say the same thing over and over and over....on both sides of the isle.
